but how much better would this game be if it was for the right to go the playoffs instead of the right to play a game against a crappy big 10 team

it would have been worse cause it wouldnt have been in autzen stadium oh and oregon state wouldnt have been in the game

committee picks the top 8
oregon is a lock if they win
perhaps osu is not in with a win but they win the pac 10 and fall into the giant pot of 3 loss teams so maybe they get in

either way the games still means a ton.

fine, then they are still playing for the pac 10 title and to knock their rivals out of the playoffs

still an epic game. in fact more epic cause oregon has they lives at stake. and technically the winner still goes to the rose bowl.

other than texas usc there hasnt been a bcs championship game yet that could rival last nights game so i doubt many if any ncaa playoff games would

and for the record im not against a playoff i just love it the way it is

last night game would carry the same meaning if you had an 8 team playoff

an 8 team basically lets some teams on certain years lose 1 game and still have a shot.

and imagine if texas losses to nebraska. there is nothing to love about a computer deciding who plays sec champ. hell, its already fraudulent that boise and tcu dont get cracks.

remember, the big boys WONT play them. even a 1 and done. the system is rigged.

going anything further than 8 would, yes.

but 8 limits to the top of the top and rightly gives the 1 and 2 easier games (fla/bama would dispose of ohio st, oregon would be tough tho). 1 slip up could easily mean that you are gone. 2 and you need a lot of good things to happen.

8 or 6 would be the ways to go. keep the bowl system for old people and schools in the mac and big 10.
