I would draft him at 21 with the quickness.  At 28, you would have to be clinically insane to pass on him.

I'm just going to bet IGY and Feva. It only takes one and a Daniel Snyder might be more than happy to step up to the plate, and if a scout says  Smith was a disaster at his pro day it could be a smoke screen as much as anything. In any case I'm not worried, worst case scenario is I'm out 40 beans but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a heart attack, gets arrested, or got a Lisfranc injury trying to run today. The guy is a mess.

Skip Daniel Snyder... if, by some chance he were to fall all the way to 21 (which he won't), you expect Andy Reid, Andy freakin' Reid... to pass up a guy once thought of as the best OL in the draft... in a year where they BADLY NEED O-LINEMEN, not once... but twice?

Do ya thing... just make sure you write down my address correctly when you mail the check.

No doubt Smith's stock is falling... and fast... but a guy who could have been the #1 overall pick at one point ain't falling out of the 1st round altogether.

Yes, I do think Reid would pas on Andre The Giant Bust Smith. He already has one first round headcase on the OL, I don't think he'll go for a second helping.

Oh, and Winston Justice says hi (only because they are making remarkable strides in the field of speech therapy).

i dont even care about the money...its gonna make the draft that much more exciting to watch...especially once it gets into the 20's every pick is gonna have tons riding on it and the suspense will be great leading up to 32

Winston Justice was a workout warrior.  He showed more athleticism than any other OL in the draft.

Your analogy sucks.

ice grillin you

yeah justice was never anywhere close to being looked at as a #1 overall pick

First off, I'm not saying the guy is or isn't going to be a bust.  I couldn't care less how he turns out unless he ends up in the NFC East. What I'm saying is that a guy who was as highly regarded as he was at one point, will not fall out of the first round.  30 teams will not pass on him.  Second, I really hope you see the difference between how far a guy with a mid-first round grade can slip as opposed to a guy who could have been taken with the #1 overall pick.  So... other than the fact that Justice and Smith are offensive tackles, that analogy is a pretty bad one.

I don't give a damn bad he's messed up lately... the guy has a ton of talent, or else he wouldn't have been as high rated as he was before his problems started.  There are way too many teams this year who need offensive line help badly (DET, STL, JAX, GB, BAL, KC, WAS, PHI off the top of my head) for all of them to pass on this guy... and twice in the case of the Lions and Eagles.  Someone is going to take a chance at whipping him into shape in order to get to his potential.

Btw... Steve Wyche on NFL Network says Smith is going to visit with the Eagles on Friday.

I can't believe Eagaholic won't cake me off too.  What a bitch.

forgte the eagles he still has over a month of visits to individual teams...once he meets individually a lot of stuff will be put to rest...by all accounts hes a really good kid that made a mistake leaving the combine...he could mess up again but short of that it would be a giant shock if he doesnt go in the first

in fact id be more surprised if goes 20-30 than 1-10

Me too.  I don't think there's a chance in hell he even falls to the Eagles to give them the opportunity to pass twice.

Justice's slide was comparable in the sense that he was thought of as a top-10 pick. If I remember right, he was originally slated to go 7th that year and then dropped like a rock. So it is pretty similar.

ice grillin you

i always remembered justice as going in the late teens to mid 20's

I just looked at the draft list and it was actually 8th when people started saying he would go...to Buffalo. That was the year they shocked everyone and took Donte Whitner that high.
