The NFC is really becoming the more well-rounded conference. The top 2 teams in the AFC are better than the top 2 in the NFC, but top to bottom, I think the NFC is more competitive.

I've seen the Bengals play a lot this season and I don't even know how they had the success they did. Their offense is ridiculously inconsistent. That passing attack used to be so explosive when Palmer was healthy, and now it is just mediocre at best.

Then you have the garbage AFC teams fighting for the WC. They all suck.

or.....the afc is a more competitive conference and they are all beating each other up while the nfc has several teams that are head and shoulders above the rest of the conference and the standings are a clear indicator of that.

if you think pittsburgh, denver, b-more or houston would be hovering around .500 in the nfc or if you think the saints would have gone 13-0 playing in the afc, then you know even less about football than we thought.  which wasn't much.

when pittsburgh and baltimore might miss the playoffs its a sign that you have a pretty good conference

Pittsburgh has lost to KC, Oakland, Chicago and the Browns. They shouldn't make the playoffs. Period.

and they beat sd minnesota and green bay

lol stop

all 3 @ home with the gb win being a borderline miracle. also havent the vikings proven themselves to be a fluky team? and that win was before the chargers got rolling.

the ravens and steelers are 8-7 for a reason. the texas are also 8-7 btw. im sure theyre awesome.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

They can beat whoever they want but the fact remains they "might miss the playoffs" because they didn't take care of business when they had to, against the teams they should beat.

Does it work the opposite way? The Raiders have lost to horrible teams but have beaten pretty much all playoff/playoff contender teams.

I want to know the rules of this game!

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

PhillyGirl

IGY, correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you on the "The Eagles BLOW and should not make the playoffs becasue they lost to Oakland" bandwagon after that game?

QuoteJets won't sell alcohol in last game at Giants Stadium
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on December 30, 2009 9:44 PM ET
Longtime Jets fans believe they are being set up.

The team caught breaks when other wild card contenders lost over the last two weeks.  They caught another big one when Peyton Manning was pulled from last week's game.

And now the Bengals are expected to rest starters, serving up a playoff berth on a silver platter.

In the mind of some Jets fans, this only means a potential loss will be all the more painful.  J.T. O'Sullivan last second touchdown to close Giants Stadium, anyone?

That would make the depressing close of Shea Stadium look like a party.

Perhaps with that worst possible result in mind, the Jets announced Wednesday night that the team won't serve alcohol at the season finale.

The decision was made partly because the game is at night.  The team was also concerned with possible fan behavior because it's final game.

Which just means there will be more drinking in the parking lot.  This should be fun

It depends on who they played, but yes I those teams wouldn't be all that much better in the NFC. Baltimore, Houston, Denver and Pitt are all mediocre teams. The Patriots aren't that great either. You saw what happened when they went against the best the NFC had to offer. They got smoked. Hell, the Steelers lost to the Bears. The Ravens are absolute garbage on the road and it doesn't even matter who they played. The Bengals(who were considered a top 2 team in the AFC for most of the year) were the only team in the last month that the Vikings actually beat. Minny smoked them by the way.

I don't think any of those AFC teams you listed are close to as good as any of the teams in the NFC playoffs right now.

The bottom of each conference is very comparable with garbage. Chiefs, Bills, Raiders, Browns = Rams, Bucs, Lions, taterskins. But overall the NFC is a deeper conference. Those teams fighting for the WC in the AFC are mediocre and their play this year proves it.

i'll say that i think that there is more "parity" between the 2 conferences than in recent years but i still think that overall, the afc still has better teams and better coaches.

never said that but even if i did im not sure what this has to do with what conference is better

But overall the NFC is a deeper conference.

wtf? no it isnt...thats why the afc has like 11 teams fighting for the playoffs and the nfc top six has been set for a couple weeks

if you wanna make an argument that the nfc is better because it has more 10 win teams then fine...still wrong...but how the hell can you say the nfc is deeper

look at like the 7 thru 11 teams in each conf.

nfc

giants - falcons - panthers - 49ers - bears - seahawks do not compare to ravens - steelers - broncos - jets - titans - texans - dolphins - jags

the afc has eight teams that have 7 or 8 wins....the nfc has four...but the nfc is deeper?

AND on top of that youd think the afc had a bunch of shtein at the bottom because of so many good teams thruout but when you look at teams with less than five wins the afc only has two while the nfc has four

the afc is deeper than atlantis
