hes been on the cardinals for like five minutes...hes not an all time cardinal anything..and there wouldnt be a peep from their fanbase if he left

PoopyfaceMcGee

The Cardinals also don't have a season ticket waiting list that could sell out their stadium in and of itself.

rjs246

The Cardinals don't have a fan base.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

What team was going to part with a No. 1 for Cassel?  Gimme a break.

The Bucs were widely rumored to want to to give up a 1 plus another pick (I think a 4), possibly  as part of that 3 way trade

Do you really think the Pats preferred a 2 (from an AFC team) over a 1 and a 4 (from an NFC team)?  Had the rumors been accurate, Cassel would be a Buc.

word on the street is that belichick was doing paoli a solid for all he's done for him over the years.  i don't want to buy it as i think belichick is a slimeball but i can't really find any other reason. he's definitely not that dumb.

I don't for a second believe that Belichek's bromance with Pioli inspired him to accept a sweetheart deal in the face of gaining much better elsewhere.

I can only believe that a 2 was about as good as he was gonna get--and I think a 2 is good value for Cassel.  Vrabel was an easy toss-in because the Pats didn't want to pay him.

QuoteNICK SCHUYLER "ALIVE AND TALKING," BUT NO WORD ON THE OTHER THREE
Posted by Mike Florio on March 2, 2009, 1:13 p.m.

Updating prior reports, the St. Petersburg Times reports that Nick Schuyler is "alive and talking" after being rescued while clinging to the overturned hull of what apparently is Marquis Cooper's boat.

Schuyler is being taken to Tampa General Hospital.

There's no word on the status of the other three men that were on the boat — Cooper, Corey Smith, and William Bleakley.  We are praying for good news, but the facts suggest at this point it would be an even bigger miracle than the discovery of Schuyler

It doesn't sound logical that Belichick would take significantly less of a deal to take care of Pioli but for NFL conspiracy theorists there could have been behind the scenes reasons. One I heard is that the Pats originally weren't going to tag Cassell and his $14+ million but Pioli said to go ahead and he would give them a second for him (and maybe Vrabel getting worked in somehow), as long as it was locked in by both sides.

It's somewhat plausible.

no way did belichek give anyone a sweetheart deal...haha at believing that for a second...he would be fired on the spot by robert kraft...not to mention he is notorious for being a fleshpop to people that leave him...we all know the mangini stuff...ive also read that he didnt talk to crennell at all after he went to cleveland

'widely rumored' means an agent or gm or coach told a reporter off the record something that was not true...it happens all the time to drive up a price...tampa clearly wasnt offering that

Unfortunately a subsequent report that Raiders LB Marquis Cooper has been found was retracted by Tampa authorities
