Aside from the HR he gave up to Baldelli in the WS he was money in the playoffs. That substaintally raised his price tag.

I personally think the offer was fair to him and it it probably seals up the fact that the Phils arent going to just toss bones because of the WS and be stuck in a long term deal with a guy that barely was a pitcher like Rome said...and the chances of him shteinting the bed this year are pretty damn good based on his past

New contract for Hamels.....3/$20.5M  :yay

2009 = $4.35M
2010 = $6.65M
2011 = $9.5M

He also gets $500K in any season following one where he wins a Cy Young Award, or $250K if he finishes 2nd or 3rd
