If it did happen then the Phillies would obviously have gone the Holliday or Manny route.  I can see that happening before them spending 125 million or more on Sabathia or trading the house for Jake Peavy.

Taguchi's option was not picked up. He'll hit .390 as a pinch hitter next season when he re-rigns with the cardinals.

Then again, Chase probably doesn't care.  He plays for the world farging champs, and Phillips plays for the Reds.

chase has 6 more errors in 19 more games (110 more total chances then phillips).

irregardless chase is a gawd, and should be rewarded as such.

Bobby Abreu won a gold glove.

The award is, and always has been irrelevant.

Utley was actually the best defensive player of any position in baseball this year.

not surprised figy is a dumbass.  just goes to show you that actually watching baseball and using you know, logic and reason, goes a long way in understanding baseball.

keith law supporting what I am saying.

QuoteKeith Law: I doubt there could be any worse call than not giving Utley a Gold Glove. He was only the best defensive player in the league last year, right? If GGs weren't already a complete and utter joke, unworthy of even a moment of our attention, then that's where they are now.

Ian (Bellingham, WA): Utley is turning thirty this offseason. You really think he can maintain production long enough to make the Hall?

SportsNation Keith Law: He's a good athlete and a plus-plus defensive player - those guys tend to age pretty well. Now, this is the part that might make my head explode, but the voters often look at stuff like Gold Gloves, so he needs to start winning some to boost his HoF chances. In my opinion, if a guy is the best player in baseball for a year or so and stays at/near that peak for a good 4-5 years, he's a HoF candidate. And Utley is the best player in baseball right now.

you really didnt even need to  be a dork to realize that utley was great defensively this year.  i am talking just a basic mds level iq here.  just watch the games.
