The reason the NFL is so great, and the Cap works so well is No Guaranteed contracts.  I have no idea why people find that so hard to believe.  It's the only system that promotes Parity.

They are different sports/situations but the comparison is valid. Do you value draft picks more than Gange's output simply because he might get hurt again? Everyone might get hurt. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

i value having cap room so i have an option to upgrade my team with a bouwmeester or someone who would makes the flyers better

i mentioned numerous reasons including having a jello head as to why gagne is a perfect guy to get rid of

whats makes the nfl different is not guaranteed contracts...its an extremely soft cap and revenue sharing
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Seabiscuit36

Revenue sharing doesnt happen in the NHL?  shtein, thats the only way about 8 teams even make any money.  farging Phoenix is getting Bailed out by the NHL.

maybe they shouldnt have teams in anaheim, la, phoenix, tampa, dallas, florida, atlanta, carolina, nashville, san jose....you know, places where theyve never seen a day below 30 degrees and an inch of snow

then maybe teams would make some money
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

revenue sharing means little when you have a hard cap...i mean it might keep some teams a float in general but it doesnt imporve their product on the ice or lead to parity thruout the league

the parity exists because the richest teams cant greatly outspend the poorest because of the hard cap

dallas never saw snow?  the 1993 thanksgiving day game vs the dolphins says hi.

the bay area is also freezing during the winter.  temps get down into the 20's.  carolina (raleigh) also has cold winters.  same with nashville.

the funny thing about the cap, there wasnt any difference in teams that spent and those that didnt.  Look at TB/Carolina/NJ, teams that a Cap really never affected them, they knew how to build a franchise.  Where as you had the Rangers who spent a ridiculous amount of money, and couldnt make the playoffs.  Detroit is a tweener, their org is tops in the league, and they spent well, but they knew how to do it precap, and obviously still now.

Well, compared to San Diego, yes.  Sub-30 and an inch of snow is rare.

I am still going to the game tomorrow night anyway, so I guess there is still a team here.  Actually, the Canes are a profitable team, I think.

MDS

oh wow they get snow once in a blue moon. big farging deal.

who the farg wants to watch the bruins play the hurricanes. no one gives a flying farg about the carolina hurricanes. same goes for the 3 ot game between the ducks and wings. thats aweomse. oh wait. no one gives a flying farg about the anaheim ducks.

the nhl has roughly 20 teams that can be eliminated and no one would cry foul. this is a problem.

outside of Raleigh, no one cares about the Canes.  I will give it to the Raleigh area, they do sellout, but they just dont have a team that people want to watch.  I love the Ducks, the ducks play a physical brand of hockey, not Detroits faggy diving finesse style.  Detroit as of April had 1 fighting Major all year.  Thats flagry.

They don't have a flashy team.  Even their "great" players are nothing to write home about.  Also, IN Raleigh, very few people care about the Canes until playoff time.  The vehicle flags are out in force this week!

Seabiscuit36

They arent CANIACS all year?

just because you can find 20,000 northern transplants in raleigh doesnt mean people care or they should still have a team. hockey is a rich white mans sport and you can always find plenty of those guys.
