i didn't see this race but this is phelps on the LEFT.  how the hell did he win?

It was incredible.  I haven't looked for the frame-by-frame photos, but I've heard that the Serbians were satisfied with the outcome once they saw that Phelps did actually touch just ahead of their guy.

Still, what are the odds?  If Phelps were from Philly, that would have been the other way around.

EDIT: Found a frame by frame link on SI.com

the Cavic dude just stopped kicking and tried to glide in, there is a great photo somewhere that shows Phelps's fingers just touching right before the other guy.  We were down the beach and went out to the bar to watch the race, the freakin place went crazy

Look at the wake generated by Phelps's feet.  There's the difference right there.

reese125

no way...Phelps' 4th metatarsal is pointed inward as you can clearly tell Cavic's is the opposite..thats the difference

If that dumbass Cavic had even fluttered his toes, he would have won that gold.  I'm not sure why I'm pissed that he didn't.

QuoteThe audience peaked at 39.9 million viewers during the 10 p.m. half-hour that featured the U.S. men winning the 400-meter medley relay.

The network said Saturday's broadcast was the most-watched Saturday show on NBC since Empty Nest, a Golden Girls spin-off starring Richard Mulligan, drew 31.4 million viewers on Feb. 24, 1990.

We need our resident couch potato to chime in on this nugget.

Empty Nest?!?

I don't even remember that show.

All this Olympics has done to me - and I've watched an unGodly amount of the coverage every day - is increase my hatred towards the Chinese.
