I was hoping for a few more years or a lesser salary for a shorter deal.

ice grillin you

carter is not that good but what else are you gonna do...not that hes ultra talented but his biggest problem is that he doesnt have the drive to bring out all the talent he does have...he plays hard about half the time...if he had 1/10th the desire that the gawd has hed be a frontline center

QuoteR.J. Umberger could be headed back to central Ohio.

Rumors are spreading in Ottawa that Umberger, who attended Ohio State, could be headed to the Blue Jackets at some point this weekend. No word on what the Blue Jackets would be trading to Philly.

The Flyers just re-upped with center Jeff Carter, according to Sportsnet.ca. Carter, who could have been a restricted free agent on July 1, signed for three years and at least $15 million.

Perhaps this makes it easy for Philly to move Umberger, who is not the No. 1 center lots of Blue Jackets are wanting, but he would significantly upgrade the position.

Umberger had 13 goals and a career-high 50 points this season in 71 regular-season games for Philadelphia, plus 10-5-15 in 17 playoff games.

#6 pick?

They also have the 19th pick. I wouldn't mind at all packaging John Druce along with the 27th for #6. Doubtful Columbus does that but maybe the Flyers could sweeten the deal with a marginal prospect or future 3rd.

farg that why would you wanna trade a good established player for a guy who probably wont ever be shtein and if he is it wont be for five years

they need a nhl caliber defensmen right now

Because this draft is especially deep at defenseman and would give the Flyers a good defensive prospect which they currently don't have (I'm assuming Parent makes the club next season). Marshall is okay but still has a ways to go.

Also, you trade Umberger you free up some cap space. They have an over abundance of his type of forward and Giroux will fill his spot just fine.

i dont care about getting rid of umberger but they better replace him with a defenseman that will help them win now

who cares about the depth of a draft if youre picking sixth...if its really that deep then theoretically they should get someone good at 27...regardless of the strength of any nhl draft the fact is half the top ten picks dont work out

QuoteWhile in Ottawa, Holmgren might trade one of his forwards (Scottie Upshall?) for a defenseman or more picks, or he could make a deal that will free some salary-cap space.
I'd hate to see the Flyers get rid of both Upshall and Umberger, who are higher energy players.

They are both fine players for what they are, but right now they can sell Umberger high and they absolutely should.

Getting rid of Upshall or keeping him would have absolutely no impact on my day. It's fun having a pest on the team, but really, who cares about Scottie Upshall?
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.
