Mitchell and McDougle at least made some valuable contributions from time to time. Gardner started. McCoy was drafted later. Has Laws done a thing worth noting? He was taken #47 overall.

Mitchell maybe, but what contribution did McDougle make? Seriously, what did he do here?

Gardner only started because Quentin Caver (another Reid bust) couldnt push him for time.

And, McCoy was a second rounder just like Gardner and Caver.

He is exactly like a McCoy a player that only the Eagles seemed to have rated that high.  That draft would be disastrous if it wasn't for the fact they selected pimp.

Actually McCoy was rated as a potential first rounder, but he had questions about his character.  Pimp was rated high as farg, but he got the Diva stereotype.

I am pretty much a nerd when it comes to the draft and no where leading up to the draft did I see McCoy rated as a first rounder.  Unless you are talking about Lesean and not Matt.

sorry thought you were talking bout your boy Lesean.  You're right, how they picked Mccoy we'll never know

Trevor Laws
DeSean Jackson
Bryan Smith
Mike McGlynn
Quintin Demps
Jack Ikegwuono
Mike Gibson
Joe Mays
Andy Studebaker
King Dunlap

4 guys are off the team, 3 are backups w/ no shot of starting without colossal injuries and one stud WR. Sure, the draft was a bust, but Pimp is the farging man.

lolol @ you farging guys.  jackson is one of if not the best young receivers in the nfl and you're whining about a bunch of scrubs at the bottom of the draft who haven't panned out yet.

Well the impetus for this conversation was a scrub who was drafted before Jackson.

Reid's 1st and 2nd rounders, ranked by pick # - feel free to disagree with the evaulations

2. Donovan McNabb - hit
6. Corey Simon - good starter, though often out of shape
14. Brodrick Bunkley - good starter
15. Jerome McDougle - miss, injury-prone
16. Shawn Andrews - miss, good starter made worthless by physical and mental problems
19. Jeremy Maclin - early, but has already done more than Mitchell
25. Freddie Mitchell - miss, but involved in some classic plays
26. Lito Sheppard - hit
31. Mike Patterson - good starter
35. Reggie Brown - solid beginning to career, but contributions fell off quickly
35. Barry Gardner - miss, kept in the NFL by solid special teams
36. Kevin Kolb - early, mixed results so far
36. Todd Pinkston - mediocre starter
39. Winston Justice - early, mixed results so far
47. Trevor Laws - early, but so far no meaningful contribution whatsoever
49. DeSean Jackson - hit
53. LeSean McCoy - early, good so far
55. Quinton Caver - miss, no meaningful contribution whatsoever
57. Victor Abiamiri - early, did enough to start
58. Michael Lewis - reasonably good starter
59. Sheldon Brown - hit
61. L.J. Smith - mediocre starter
61. Bobbie Williams - miss, did enough to start for 2 years
63. Matt McCoy - miss, started a few games and looked horrible

-gotta be happy with McNabb, Bunkley, Sheppard, Patterson, Jackson, S. Brown. Simon had issues but was legitimately good as well

-and given the bust rate in the NFL you can't be upset about Pinkston, Lewis, or Smith

-R. Brown is the closest thing to a borderline case. Not quite a bust, not quite a legit starter.

-Andrews is frustrating as hell because you know he has talent

-the total busts were McDougle, Mitchell, Gardner, Caver, Williams, and M. McCoy

-i'm giving an incomplete to Maclin, Kolb, Justice, Laws, L. McCoy, and Abiamiri. Other than Laws they've all shown at least some indication of having some ability

so you've got 7 players in the "good" catergory.  8 if you want to count andrews because even though the guy is missing his 3rd season with injury, he has been to the probowl and is widely regarded and an awesome player around the league.  there's 24 picks up there total so those 8 players alone would give reid a 33% success rate in the first 2 rounds.

throw in smith, pinkston, lewis since they were at least moderately productive players and that gives you 10 out of 24 and now you're up to 42% success rate.

of course, this all depends on how each person grades each draft pick.  a lot of people will say that a 1st or 2nd round pick should be a starter and one of the top contributers to the team otherwise it's a bust pick.

personally, after actually looking at the first 2 rounds over the last 10 years, it's really not quite as bad as i thought.  and i think that in those 2 rounds, if you are between 30-40% successfull then you're doing pretty darn good.

of course, the best way to really see how successful reid has been is to compare those picks with the 1st and 2nd round picks of every other team during that time frame.
