Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

If they take 4 of 6 from Atlanta and 2 of 3 from the Nats, they should be able to lose 2 of 3 to Florida and still make the playoffs.

Winning any 7 of the next 12 should be enough, considering the way the Brewers and Astros are playing, which means they will win 6 and miss the playoffs by a game.

iceholes.

what if they win seven but its a specific seven not just "any" seven

do they still make it?

phillies have the worst schedule simply because the cubs will have nothing to play for in the majority of their remaining games and will only be worrying about the playoffs

phillies have all their games against division rivals that would love nothing more than to knock them out

there really is no reason why they should lose any of those games to atlanta or dc, both those teams are beyond putrid.

And wouldn't the cubs and reds and pirates want to see the same thing happen to the brewers then?

How about this scenario:

-- Phils go 2-1 at Atlanta; NY goes 2-2 at Washington => Phils are .5 back
-- Phils go 1-2 at Florida; NY goes 1-2 at Atlanta => Phils are .5 back
-- Phils go 2-1 vs Atlanta; NY goes 2-2 vs Chicago => Phils and Mets are tied (and we're exactly where we were last year)
-- Phils go 2-1 vs Washington (again); NY goes 1-2 vs Florida (again) => Phils win by 1 game (again)  :yay

cubs could care less and they are the x factor here as they play all the other teams except the phillies...they will be sitting players as the playoffs are more important to them than beating the brewers or mets

reds and pirates technically are the same to the brewers as the braves and fish are to the phils except the rivalries in that division are not the same as in the nl east

im not saying the phils have some murderous schedule compared to everyone else but theirs is slightly tougher because they dont get to play against the cubs bench like the other teams do

cubs magic number is 7 for the division, so in the least, they will be playing out these next 4 games. if the phils keep winning, they can extend the cubs clinching homefield into the mets series, so theyll have something to play for.

the division may be a stretch but the wild card you gotta definitely favor the phils

you can favor them because of how hot they are right now...or because you think they are the best team regardless...but you cant favor them on the schedule

maybe.

but on paper the philles shouldnt lose more than 3 games and that should be good enough to get them into the playoffs.
