farg burrell...they have enough rbis in the lineup where they dont need his awful fielding and hideous baserunning...they need to start reworking this lineup by getting some strikeouts out of it and getting more speed and contact in...id much rather have the kind of outfielders the twins usually go for...a 15-25 homer 75-85 rbi guy who can run field and make contact whether to move guys around or drive them in...the phillies lineup has been fundementally flawed for a long time now and they arent going anywhere in the postseason until it changes

There is no way the Phillies should re-sign Burrell.  He's a liability in the field and in very short order he's going to be unable to play there every day.  He's got "DH" written all over him (as does Dawg).  It's bad enough that they have one guy on the field who should be designated hitter but having two and signing one of them to another long term deal is flat out stupid.

Burrell has cut down on his K's somewhat and his ability to draw walks is nice. His defense is okay and his arm is above average. With Victorino playing CF you can afford to have a lead-foot in left.

Want to cut down on K's? Get in Choke's head and tell that guy to not whiff 220 time a year. Its scary good to think about what he would do if he made more contact. He's at what, 76 rbi now? Hitting .220? If he's hitting .280 he has over 100 by now.

And Rollins' dumbass needs to get away from that uppercut swing and back to the swing he had last year. Every time he comes up now I think he is going to pop out or fly.

You can win with Burrell and Howard in there doing what they do now if the other role players can play fundamentals and get bunts down, situational hit , etc.

Speaking of Burrell...Charle pulling him in the 7th last night was dumber than shtein. You want to yank him in the 9th for defense? Fine. But in the 7th? And when his spot came up again in the 8th they had to PH Ruiz.

to win a world series you need more pitching and hitting but to win in the national league playoffs they have to change their offense...last year was the perfect example...when this team faces playoff pitching they are gonna be locked down everytime

bottom line is re signing burrell would be dumb as hell....theres probably 25 outfielders that will be available this offseason that can improve LF for the phillies...and i wouldnt have a problem at all trading choke especially because he has value in his offense...burrell is a 25 homer 95 rbi guy in a bandbox that is a liability in every other facet of the game...plus hes in his 30's...what is so special about him that would make you even entertain the thought of resigning him...at least choke puts up monster offensive numbers

I'm not saying give him killer money. I would like to see a list of FA's this year; maybe you are right. Depending on who is available maybe they should not get him. But I would lean towards keeping him.
