I about shat myself with joy when the human error himself scooped Bruntlett's throw.

Nice win and Eaton was pretty solid again until the 6th.

WTF is with that little bitch Taguchi though? He's had two balls - LINE DRIVES at that ricochet off his wrist in this series (along with another dropped ball earlier in the year).

Helluva defensive replacement! He gets to the gaps and then drops the balls. Who the hell does he think he is, Todd Pinkston?

QuoteApril 20 -- MORE ON ROLLINS | 11:13 PM

So, Jimmy Rollins is taking the blame for not agreeing to go on the disabled list sooner, and before tonight's game, assistant GM Ruben Amaro Jr. admitted the Phillies probably erred by not forcing the issue. These quotes -- from Rollins, Amaro and Charlie Manuel -- come courtesy of colleague Geoff Mosher, who's pinch-hitting at The Bank as I travel to Denver for the opener of the Phillies-Rockies series tomorrow.

Rollins: "Most of it was me. [Athletic trainer] Scott [Sheridan] asked me if I was willing a couple days ago, but my idea was to keep going if I could work on it. You know pain is going to be associated, and that's part of it. I don't mind that. But not being able to go out there and be useful was really the ultimate decision.

"It's going to take, at best, a week before you can go out and play, and that's under very good circumstances. The average time is three weeks, 21 days, so getting on [the DL] now only puts me at 25. I was trying to see how far I could go. There wasn't any swelling. There was just it being tender, and of course, going on the DL is something I don't look forward to."

Amaro: "We had talked through this whole process about whether it made sense for us to DL him. Jimmy didn't feel comfortable with that situation. His ankle continued to feel better. It just got to the point where it maxed out. He didn't get to the point where he could play like Jimmy Rollins could play without risking more injury and we agreed."

Manuel: "When he first got hurt, and he came out the next day, the way he was moving around I didn't think it was going to be very long. I definitely didn't think it was going to be 10 days to two weeks or something like that. But that's why you got doctors and that's why there are trainers, and that's why I'm not a doctor and I'm not a trainer."

Coaches have to put their farging foot down on this shtein.  The same thing happens with McNabb and Reid.

Why are there even coaches and personnel guys if the players can make decisions like this?

Anyway, none of this will matter if Jimmy's still not 100% when he comes off the DL.

The responsibility for Rollins lies with Rollins and no one else.  If he isn't completely forthcoming with the training staff on something like this then they're essentially blameless in this case.

Yeah, I can't really put too much blame on the coaching staff for JRoll.  If the reigning MVP says that he'll be good to go after a few days of rest, then I don't see the problem in taking his word for it.  JRoll is a professional athlete and a damn good one at that.  If he tells me he doesn't need to go on the DL, I'd believe him too.

And I don't think that Jimmy wasn't being forthcoming about anything.  I think he believed he only needed a few days rest.  It's just a tricky situation that didn't work out in anyone's favor.  It happens sometimes.  Unless you're the Phillies.  Then it happens alot.

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

MRI's and X-Rays don't lie.  If it was a bad sprain, he should have been on the DL within 48 hours.

how about the fact that HE COULDNT GO OUT AND PLAY FOR TEN STRAIGHT DAYS

If he couldn't go it was his job to tell the team that.  I know the urge to blame everything that goes wrong in the organization is well-founded considering their past track record but the player has to be forthcoming about his health.  If he isn't then you can't blame the medical staff.  I mean, it's not as if he had an injury that was 100% definable.

any idiot who's ever played sports and sprained an ankle knows the only way it gets better is with rest. Not testing it out every day and pinch hitting. if they put him on the shelf the day after the sprain he's back in 15 days, not in 1 month.

Dukes of Hazzard?

Without looking it up, guess what team he came from. It should be easy considering the GM...
