Clueless.  You can tell from the UI garbage: items list, click "sell", asks for how many (items don't stack), then you get a confirmation screen.

I think it's safe to say that hasn't been the top priority of most.  Admittedly, I bought a 2nd starter pack to assist in getting my IQ over 700.  Early on in the game, I wasted crystals on energy refills.  Dumb.

Every crystal should be used to increase IQ.  In fact, anything the gang has should probably be doled out in advance of our upcoming event.
