Despite making about $2.5 million since 2005 as a member of the Bengals, Chris Henry is so broke he wants taxpayers to pay for a record of his trial. "He's broke," said Perry Ancona, the former wide receiver's attorney said Tuesday, July 8. "He doesn't have any money to pay for a transcript." Henry signed a five-year, $6 million contract after being drafted in 2005. He received about $1 million to sign plus an average of just over $500,000 for the first three years. He was to be paid $520,000 this year, but the team released him after his arrest.

what a joke of an excuse for a human being.  Gotta blame the team also for not explaining how to squirrell away money, the Eagles have Harold Carmichael to break down to rookies and players the way to live off what you've made thru investments and such.

While its nice that the Eagles have someone to teach the rookies about money management, I don't see how this is a teams responability.  I don't think anyone here ever had their first employer sit down and say "Now that you are making money, don't go spending it all on hookers and blow.  You really should get yourself a Roth IRA"

Aren't all of them automatically over the income ceiling to legally contribute to a Roth IRA?

You know what... I ALMOST wrote a disclaimer just for you, that I added in the Roth for effect.  But I didn't because I didnt think 1) you would actually bother to point that out and 2) the context of that quote was twoard you or I, not an NFL player and I thought you would catch that.

I was wrong.

every business i have ever worked for including the federal govt now has seminars and informational meetings to educate employees on investment options and how to save money...its not a responsiblity its a way for an employer to provide a service to its employees...ALL businesses should do it

Couldn't agree more.  If companies and businesses would actually take a slight interest in the overall well being of their employee's lives, the world would be a better place.

Again, its nice that your employers did it, and businesses SHOULD do it, but it is not their responsibility.
