The main difference between DTV and Comcast besides the picture quality is the contact.  DTV still locks you in for two years, Comcast typically doesn't.  If you have a south west facing view then you can do a porch setup for dtv.  5 gallon bucket with some concrete and a pole.  If you're looking to get dtv, shoot me a message with your email, and i can send a referral code that gives you 100 in bill credits and does the same for me.

I've had DTV for years, provided you have a clear path for the satellite, i've never had an issue.  Quality is better, but be forewarned, there is no CSN Philly.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I think it's as easy as hitting "options" on your remote when the Welcome screen is up. It's worth taking a look at some of the things you can do with settings. There's some useful stuff in there.

i recently switched back to Fios from comcast. my main motivation was that comcast farged up my bill every month and i got sick of calling them to fix it.  i was supposed to get a certain amount of promotional discounts for 2 years and after 6 months they dropped a big one and kept agreeing I was owed it but never got permanently fixed.

that being said the services are similar to me, the one thing I'll miss is Comcast's X1 platform had a cool widget for the last channel watched.  when you hit the last button it brought up the last 10 channels you had watched.  that came in really handy watching a bunch of games at one time.

To the people who don't like the Fios welcome screen settings or power settings...you can turn all of that shtein off in, you guessed it, settings. Hit Menu, go into the settings and set it up how you want. I turned mine off.

have been playing around with this...one thing i changed was in the dvr to first run episodes only....now when you add a new show to your dvr it will set up for original eps only and you have to change it if you want repeats...99/100 shows i never want repeats so it was always annoying to have to change it for every show

So I sign up with comcast at a set price, they send me a letter saying they accidentally gave me a dvr box and my bills going up $10 a month. I don't use the dvr for shtein and just figured it was part of their service. So I called and told the lady to have a tech stop by to pick it up and install my new box. Nope, I have to take time out to take it back. Yeah I'm a whiney bitch but now I see why they have such a bad customer service reputation.

Rome

farg that.  Tell them to come and get their shtein and cancel the service.
