Its all because the eagles suck I blame Reid

There is truth in this comment. When this board evolved form the old "black board" it was at a time the Eagles evolved from the morass of ineptitude to a contender. After the slow-motion suicide of the post Ryan years the hope of the late nineties created great anticipation and momentum. And it showed in the posters. There were fans and homers and bete noire's like Hoyda and hyper fans like that guy who led us to the Cleveland fan-board debacle - I forget his name (but later died in an Explorer roll-over) and "ruby ridge" reactionaries like TalonX, etc. But all were riding the Eagles resurgence and just maybe a Superbowl. And the discourse sure was lively with anticipation - and all culminating with the TO affair.

Well the future sure ain't what it used to be. The team is struggling with quality, identity and direction, as is CF. Neither good nor bad - just the evolution. What is anticipated now? How much the team will miss the SB by this year? How much self-referential bacon can fit into one sentence?

The slide down is always less invigorating then the shimmy up.

I do indeed remember.  And anyone that was actually "led" to the Browns board was some form of retarded.

yup, when the birds were good, coming here was fun and worth while. now i don't even watch a full season of the eagles, whats the point of coming here, only to get more angry and argue about why they are losing. the arguing is just a way to shake off some bottled up anger for everyone i guess. surely IGY isn't that fargin bullheaded. he already tricked us about being black.

You got your boards confused Jack.  The old black board was the original EMB but wasn't part of philadelphiaeagles.com.....it was eaglesnet.com or something like that  Then they went to something that looks a lot more similar to what they have today and changed the address to philadelphiaeagles.com.  There was such an influx of new members to the board that I think the place actually overloaded or something and the Eagles shut it down to rebuild.  It was basically no different than it is today or any other "official" team message board with little moderation and a bunch of 12 year olds and grown ups talking like 12 year olds.

I think it was during the first major shut down they had that GF and a few others (MURP, Mad-Lad, Sus and PG) started working on CF.  The original CF message board was private and was used for the CF gods to commicate ideas about the site to each other (at least I think that's the way MURP explained it to me....not sure though because we were farging wasted and MURP was busy spilling 6 packs of beer in a bar).  Anyway, when the EMB opened back up it was so annoying that stillupfront aka stalker started spamming the EMB with the link to this place and a few of us started trickling over.  The board here was made public and was basically a safe haven to get away from what the EMB was turning into.  This was sometime in the spring of 2001.  Yes, stillupfront was the original pimp of CF.  Not sure how the rest of you idiots found this place.

The dude you're talking about that died was Mick or King Mick or something like that.  For whatever reason he thought he was cool for going to other team's boards and starting flame wars.  Then he got what he deserved by driving drunk and killing himself.

The fact that I actually remember all of this makes me the most supreme loser of all time.

Carry on.

Diomedes

That was an oral history of :CF, as told by Sassy Mo Lassy.  Thank god it was recorded for posterity.
