Quote"What starters do you want us to get rid of?" Heckert said. "Name them."

IGY's right...what a farging POS, in other words, "Ok dummy, who do YOU think we should get rid of"

Banner basically said the same thing in one of his responses in the latest issue of Eagles Insider.

Jesus - talk about arrogance and condescension.  It really is hilarious in a depressing sort of way.

The party line that's emerging is that injuries or players recovering from injuries is the prime factor in a 10-6 playoff team falling to 8-8.

theres no question the mcnabb injury effected their season big time...maybe you can even argue it prevented them from making the playoffs...

but other than that what injuries are they talking about...what other injuries did they have that really made a huge difference...they certainly didnt have any injuries that other teams didnt have and they had less than many teams...

jesus christ a team in their own division the taterskins had waaaaay more injuries lost their starting qb had a friggin guy die and they made the playoffs

the problem here is the ultimate goal of the FO vs what the fans want...the FO it seems would be happy with 10-6 and a playoff exit next year...the fans want more...im not a bottom is falling out guy...i think this is a possible playoff team next year as is...but i dont want a possible playoff team i want a possible superbowl team and to achieve that goal they have to make some significant changes

the goal is to sell tickets and jackets, this much we can agree on, right??

The Eagles fell to 8-8 because they had less talent than the other teams in the division.  The injury excuse is just that, a farging lame ass excuse because they refuse to acknowledge their shortcomings in talent acquisition.  Everyone knew that the zesty free agent signings and lousy drafts would catch up to them eventually and now it has.  Amazingly, though, they're really not that far off from making the playoffs but that has more to do with the NFC being patently awful than anything else.

They have to take stock of this team honestly and like I said earlier, either they have and this is a smokescreen or they have and they really think they're a lot more talented than they are.  Here's hoping the former is the case because if it isn't, we're in for a long wait for this team to return to dominance, at least in the conference, anyway.

selling tickets is no longer an issue....what i think they strive for tho is to just make the playoffs so they can validate raising the price of all the tickets they sell

and i love how the injuries prevented 10-6...like 10-6 is ok, where the farg is 12-4, 13-3?

same difference...the goal is to maximize profits, minimize costs...not to win a SB.  if they do happen to win a SB then great, but they aren't going to orient the strategy of the whole organization to the SB goal..that costs too much money

if they have identified that large improvements are necessary then you dont have to come out and say that but at the same time dont come out and spew over the top fluff to the press either

that piece above isnt one random obscure comment its an entire article filled with cocky condenscending garbage quotes about how great they are

the fact that its so in your face tells me that they honestly believe it...why else go so far in trying to get this mesage out

this shtein really has me heated

Suite lease renewals and Replica Jerseys, but you get the idea.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

The fact that they've missed the playoffs twice in the past three seasons and have an aggregate record that is sub-.500 over that time period should be proof enough for them that they're not getting it done as-is.

Spadaro keeps saying that major changes are coming then Heckert comes out with this line of horseshtein.  I can't figure it because there's just no way they believe this team is good enough to win a Super Bowl.  Not even close.

Then again, maybe Dio is right... maybe winning a Super Bowl isn't the primary driving force for this group.  Maybe maximizing profit while giving us a product that is just good enough to keep us interested is the main goal.  The horrible cynic in me can certainly see that but the unrepentant little kid fan in me doesn't want to believe it.

What I got from that article was the worst thing the Eagles could have done was beat the Cowboys and 'almost' beat the Pats. Seems like the f/o mindset is we're good enough when things go the right way which is an idiotic way to do business. The Pats made it to the second round of the playoffs last year, did they sit on their asses in the offseason? Nope, they identified their biggest weakness was WR and fixed it, then they added the best LB in free agency.

the ravens "almost" beat the pats
in fact came a lot closer than the eagles
and they fired their coach (who btw has won a superbowl)
