It's possible, unlikely but possible, that he does it this year.  I think he'll be back next year though.  Good kickers are hard to come by and he's still more reliable than most.

PhillyPhreak54

He sucks now. Has all year. 2/10 from 40+?

Better bring in a legit guy in camp next year because if Akers struggles during the season then you have a good guy to call up and replace Akers with.

I have no problem with them doing that if he struggles once the season is underway.  But unless they bring in another proven kicker then I think it'd be a mistake to go with some unknown/rookie kicker.

I was pretty happy to hear McNabb's comments about Oliver's report.

I want McNabb back here....but this FO needs to get him help. I can't even imagine why he'd WANT to be back here, with the slop they give him to play with.

I didn't hear the report because I went out to a bar to watch the game with some friends.  What was he asked/what did he say?

I wouldn't be mad at him one bit if he said he wanted out.  All I know is if McNabb goes (unless he requests a trade or to be released) and Reid stays I will become the most anti-Eagles Eagles fan out there.

He did the celebration on the TD pass

The Pam Oliver comments were in the 1st quarter.

Quote"Donovan really seems to believe that his days in Philadelphia are numbered. When I spoke with him before the game, I got the impression that Donovan is a little hurt by what he sees as an organization distancing itself from him and an organization that's overly concerned about the negative fan reaction to him. But Donovan told me point blank: My knee is not an issue. The next place I go, I will win, and also that he will keep a smile on his face for as long he's in an Eagles uniform."

Quote"I didn't say that," an exasperated McNabb said after a game right out of his 2002 highlight reel. "I don't feel that way. I've said I want to be here eight more, nine more years. If that's possible, we'll see."

McNabb said Oliver's comments were conclusions she drew, not anything he said himself. But it isn't hard to see how she might have reached those conclusions since, within moments, McNabb was laughing and rolling his eyes at a question about whether he felt he would be welcomed back in Philadelphia in 2008.

"I don't know, are you going to welcome me?" McNabb said.

Jay, I don't record games and break down every play to its smallest detail, but of the FGs missed, how many were Rocca's fault if you take out the Meadowlands issues and the unlucky 57-yder last week?

Just going off memory I really can't think of many (if any) snaps or holds that weren't fluent but Rocca's probably not putting the ball exactly where Akers likes it like Koy did.  I'm an Akers fan and I'd love to see the guy kicking for the Eagles for another 9 or 10 years but the one thing I'll say about him is that he doesn't seem to have gotten over not having Koy hold for him.

It was obvious how comfortable he was with neckbeard because when the Eagles brought him back late in the season last year Akers was perfect on FG attempts.

So maybe in the offseason (and during the weeks between games), Akers needs to work with Rocca and tell him exactly how he wants the ball spotted.  Hell, invite neckbeard out for a couple of weeks this winter to work with Rocca.

stop with Rocca's fault...Koy isn't some magic farging holder, kickers all around the league kick with punters  and backup qbs as their holders
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Diomedes

re Akers....he must improve

this isn't acceptable

No, but after X number of years of having the same exact long snapper and holder....when both things change, its gotta be hard to change everything around. Most kickers don't have the same holder/long snapper as long as Akers did, so comparing him to other kickers in the same situation is pretty difficult.

I'm not blaming Rocca, I'm suckling neckbeard.

BigEd76

I'm not saying Koy is awesome.  I'm saying Rocca never held for a field goal until July and you can't expect him to be perfect on every snap.
