I don't get upset with peta. i actually feel pretty bad for them. their way of thinking is just so off the wall, i just get all giddy thinking about how much they are missing out on consuming delicious elk steaks.

Dio - I do pharmaceutical research for a living.  I know a guy from England who came home to find his son kidnapped from school, only to be dropped off later that night doused in pig's blood.

I have personally been threatened by PETA members.  They publish the addresses of senior management for drug companies and terrorize their homes.  They've murdered people (albeit not in the US, but they are ridiculous in Europe) who didn't bend to their demands.  They burned down a vivarium, WITH THE ANIMALS IN IT, because that was less inhumane than performing research on them.

These people are no different than Bin Laden.  And they are probably more of a significant threat to me and my family.  They aren't just "getting under my skin".  It's personal, and real.

MMH was it definitely PETA or was it ALF (Animal Liberation Front) that murdered people and torched the vivarium? PETA denies having ties with them but agrees with their actions.

A family member of mine used to work in stem cell research at NIH (before funding was drastically cut). The topic of new organs for this guy was a constant point of conversation. I don't care about aging, I don't want to live forever, but I would like to be able to continue to eat and drink whatever the hell I want and switch out my zesty organs for fresh ones every decade or so. So, you know, get on that.

Funny idea...and interesting to note that one of the concepts in the anti-cancer war is to get those cells to age faster.

PETA should come to Iraq, if they saw how animals got treated over here they would probably defeat the insurgency themselves.  Yesterday I saw a kid about 6-7yrs old beating the shtein out of a herd of sheep with a stick.  It was probably one of the funniest things that I ever saw.
