you guys need to relax. The f-in Colts gave up over 650 rushing yards last year in 4 pre-season games and where did they end up? Better yet, how did there defense do down the stretch?

let them learn the defensive schemes and their positions to be in before you crucify them on every play. Its going to take time. They will be fine

"They'll be fine."

That's nice.  Unfortunately, I was hoping for more than 'fine' from this team.

Silly me.

I believe igy said this last night but you really do have to feel sorry for Spikes.  The fact that he's starting next to Gocong and Gaither is almost more comical than it is infuriating.

reggie brown is definitely the next chad johnson........definitely.

the problem with the defense is the same as the offense. its so god damn predictable! seriously...everyone knows we've been running the same defense for years, and for years some teams have capitalized. Now its almost like every team game plans. What do the eagles do? They stick to the game plan no matter what the opponents offense is doing. They do not adjust! Look at last night how Pitts offense totally exposed the blitzing Eagles D. Screen after screen, short quick passes where linebackers were blitzing. Everytime the eagles showed bliutz, they blitzed! Hello@! Show blitz and then back off for once! Jim Johnson is not fooling anyone, just like Fat farg.

I dn't even want to get into the offense...fargin sad

I'm not worrying about this team in the Preseason.  They go vanilla every year, Andy insists its Turkey Hill Vanilla bean every time.  The front line looks strong, the LB's need work outside of spikes obviously.  Dawk will regain his form, and considine is what he is.

Hah, all assuming the playcalling goes well. I agree the team has players to win, not the coaches to win though. I seriosuly hope that Johnson or Reid are gone this year.

I'll say this right now...the downfall of this team will be the defense. And not because of Gaither or Constidine...it's the archaic scheme.

Johnson should have been let go after last year.

its not the scheme or jim johnson...its the players...pittsburgh has been running the same scheme for the last 15 years and they are always at or near the top...

the difference is they add players to the system that can actually play...from jason gildon to levon kirkland to gerg lloyd to joey porter to james farrior and on and on and on...while the eagles add sean considine omar gaither  mike patterson and chris gocong

I'm not a sky-is-falling guy, but there wasn't much about last night that made me think they'd be fine.  The defense looked completely porous.  They were getting pushed all over the field, and when they did miraculously have a shot at a ballcarrier, they couldn't tackle.  Somehow, Gocong made Chad Lewis look like a Weeble-- was there one play when his feet didn't slip out from under him?  Another game like that, and the Bradley era, such as it is, may have to begin.

I really do wonder how much shuffling they're going to have to do at LB if the d line isn't great.

The bad:

-Reggie Brown looked fairly terrible.  Seemed disinterested, couldn't catch and took that retarded penalty.
-McNabb and Curtis must have a love/hate relationship-- McNabb seems to want to go to Curtis, but it seems like he's trying to get Curtis killed.
-LBs not named Spikes were a mess.
-This just in...Considine can't tackle.
-D-line, particularly the ends, were invisible.
-Dawkins didn't look like himself.  He wasn't flat-out bad, but he looked a little slow.
-O-line.  Andrews better get healthy in a hurry.
-If the DBs drop those easy Ints in the regular season, I'm going to break things.

The Not-as-bad:

-McNabb looks pretty healthy
-Tony Hunt looks better than I thought he'd be.  I actually think he looks better than Buck, at least as a runner.
-Celek still looks like he can play.
-James wasn't as bad as I'd heard he'd looked before...but he wasn't good.
-I think Bloom will be okay, assuming he gets that toe right.
-Kolb looked better than I thought he'd look at this point.
-Rocca looks legit....and he'd likely play OLB better than Gocong.

i cant see the eagles using a roster spot for a punt returner who hasnt yet shown he can return punts...i think bloom is gone

A little commentary on Considine from the place that shall not be named:

Quote
I was willing to give Sean Considine the benefit of the doubt. Ok, a shoulder injury prevented him from bulking up and thus he was under 200 pounds. So he bulks up to 215. I'm hoping this helps because he is around the ball a lot. Problem is: he just isnt a playmaker. He's a heat-seeking dud. He just doesn't put enough into his hits and it really shows, not just when he got punked by Heath Miller, but every tackle he makes hes getting dragged by the running back for 3-4 yards.  He's like a human cape.  I'm sure this subject has been beaten to death so I'm gonna take a lot of heat for posting, but whatever. We might want to look into splitting time between him and Mikell or just look to pick up another strong safety after final cuts or something.
