Andrews receives "tear jerking" news?

farg.  Could be nothing more than an overreaction on his part.  But given Reid's history of hiding injuries and the fact he sounds devastated I'm not sure what to really think.  If he's off the line we might be in for a long farging year.

Edit:  EMB and other boards are absolutely blowing up about this.  Has anyone heard anything?

QuoteShawn Andrews: "I Don't Know What the Future Holds"

Just got finished talking to Shawn Andrews, who hasn't practiced since hurting his right ankle the fourth day of training camp at Lehigh. The Eagles have been saying Andrews has a sprained ankle, and head coach Andy Reid hasn't made this sound like a serious injury. But Andrews sounded ominous today in his first public remarks since he got hurt.

Although Andrews refused to say exactly what is wrong with his ankle, he said that when his ankle specialist told him his options, "It was a tear jerker."

Asked whether that means he may need surgery or that this injury may be career-threatening, Andrews said he couldn't comment, although he did say, "I don't know what the future holds."

Andrews underwent surgery on his ankle as a rookie and missed the entire 2004 season. But by last year, he had become one of the toughest blockers in the NFL and started in the Pro Bowl and was named to the NFL All-Pro team. Reid, in a prepared statement, said only, "He's making progress on his ankle. He will not play this week. We'll see how he does next week."

Andrews repeatedly refused to answer questions specifically. He doesn't know how long he'll be out. He doesn't know if he'll need more surgery. He doesn't know what's next.

"Sometimes things happen when you have a 300-pound body on a leg that's been broken," Andrews said. "It's tough. ... Pain's not the issue. It's beyond me."

So Scott Young lines up at right guard with the first offense and the future of one of the Eagles' most promising young players is in limbo.

This was on the radio earlier today (on 950).

Lets see what happens before blowing up about it.

Andrews has the emotional capacity of a 14 year-old.  Great guy, fantastic talent, but come on... it's not like he isn't prone to acting like a child at times.  I mean, isn't "big kid" his nickname??

Like PG said... chill on this until we get the real deal from the Eagles.

All is well.

I agree with PG and Rome..

But you have to admit it's a little disconcerting to hear him say the news was "tear jerking".   When I hear tear jerking I'm thinking either the season or possibly career.   Not just a few weeks.

But we have Jean Gilles coming in now to kill everyone.

oh wait, i mean Scott Young.

So whats the new over/under for false start penalties on Young?

What on Earth would make any of you think that everything is fine here? Do any of you even pay attention to Eagles football?
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

He's Mormon so it's ok.  I bet he's never even had a Pepsi.

Rome

I didn't say everything was fine.  I said wait until we hear from the Eagles and not some blog on the farging internet.

That was my main concern posting this.  But it was all over the internet and radio.  Not to mention as soon as this shtein broke I couldn't log on to any Eagle site so I didn't know what the farg was going on.   :boom
