Is it possible it has to do with that overpayment issue?  Ive been internet deprived for the better part of the past two weeks, but I don't remember him giving that money back.   ???

WESTBROOK IS AT A FUNERAL

A league source tells us that running back Brian Westbrook is absent from Eagles camp because he's at a funeral.

With that said, we're confused as to why coach Andy Reid didn't simply say so on Wednesday, instead of creating the impression that something akin to T.O.'s 2005 ticket home had gone down.

Presumably, Westbrook will return soon.

Its from PFT's rumormill, so take it for what it is worth.

while i think the secrecy that surrounds so many meaningless happenings with the eagles is ridiculous at no point did andy make it seem like it was anything remotely close to the TO situation

The site said that LJ missed practice yesterday with "groin soreness"... doesn't say anything about this morning's practice though.

QuoteAlso missing practice Wednesday were tight end L.J. Smith (groin soreness), safety Marcus Paschal (leg spasms), cornerback Dustin Fox (Achilles), running back Correll Buckhalter (knee), linebacker Dedrick Roper (foot) and defensive tackle Ian Scott (knee).

Eagles Notes | A rookie tight end catches Reid's eye

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Andy Reid admitted he doesn't like doing it, but then did it any way.

Asked to name some players who have exceeded his expectations, the head coach listed three names, starting with rookie tight end Brent Celek.

"I hate picking guys out," Reid said. "But obviously you guys have seen the tight-end situation with Celek. It looks like he's done a nice job."

That may not be much of a quote, but it's quite a compliment for Celek, a fifth-round pick out of Cincinnati who has run with the starting offense because of L.J. Smith's delayed return from sports-hernia surgery.

"It's a good feeling, but I can't sit here and dwell on it," Celek said after special-teams practice yesterday. "I know, and I know [Reid] knows, that I need to get a lot better. . . . I have to keep working hard."

Celek has run solid routes and shown good hands during the first two weeks of training camp, but now he wants to see how he measures up in a preseason game. He probably will run with the first-team offense Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens. It seems unlikely that Smith will play.

"I just try to take advantage of every opportunity I get," Celek said. "It always helps when you're going against the best of the best, and that's what happens when you're running with the first and second team."

Celek, best known to Rutgers fans for his 83-yard catch and run for a touchdown that helped end the Scarlet Knights' bid to go unbeaten last fall, said he needs to get more consistent catching the ball.

"I feel like there have been a lot of balls that I have let get away," he said.

He's hoping that doesn't happen Monday night against the Ravens, a game he's already been thinking about.

"This is my dream," he said. "I can't say enough about how happy I am to be here. Now I'm going to get a chance to show that I can play in a game. Practice is practice. That's the time to get better and hone your skills. But the games are what matter. I'm excited to get out there against other people besides our own."

Reid also mentioned rookie defensive end Victor Abiamiri and wide receiver Kevin Curtis as players who have impressed him.

"I think most of the young guys on both sides of the football [have done well]," the coach said. "The young guys look like they're very productive right now."

Sampy's setback
Wide receiver Bill Sampy was highly regarded coming into training camp and figured to push Jeremy Bloom for the jobs of kick and punt returner. Instead, the former Louisiana-Lafayette star is nursing a bruised quadriceps that Reid said is going to take a while to heal.
"This isn't helping him, but there's really nothing he can do about this one," Reid said. "He has a quad contusion and those are tough to come back from. He's a pretty tough kid . . . and I think he'd do anything to get out here, but he just can't."

- Bob Brookover

No need to worry! Scrap Iron was a late round surprise out of Cincinnati, that must mean Celek is the exact same type of player, right?

Seriously though, looks like he's already bumped the Shoboat down a rung. Haven't heard much about Celek from the training camps....
"The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.""  R.I.P George.

I love how the eagles hit so much in camp, but maybe this why most other teams dont.
