As of right now, it has been 35 days since my last cigarette. (5 weeks to the day)

Smoked from the time i was 17 until last month (31)...14 years. I never once thought about quitting in that time. Until some time in april, when out of the blue, my wife asked me if I would consider quitting. I said sure, I'll do it May 15.

So the night of May 14...i finished my pack. And bam....cold turkey. Havent smoked since.

I did go about a week with those nicotine losenges. They made me nautious...

Overall, other than 3 or 4 days of some mild headaches, nothing that tylenol didn't help get rid of, it's actually be quite easy to quit. I still drink as much coffee and beer as I did before.

Actually, the hardest part of quitting is realizing how much free time I now have. It's like I now have 2 extra hours a day that I don't know what to do with.

damn congrates so far with the cold turkey thing. i don't need to smoke at all til i hit the bottle, then its over i can easily smoke a pack of cigs if drinking. horrible and wish i could just stop cold turkey but the cravings come on strong when i drink. have to be a double whammy for me to totally quit. prob a good idea...

QuoteI was really addicted to hot turkey. I loved eating it right out of the oven nice and warm. I had to get off the stuff, so I went cold turkey.

I finally quit a while ago.  I'll still have one occasionally when I'm really drunk and won't be around my kid anytime soon... which means I've had 2 cigarettes in the last year or so.

I really have no desire to smoke until I'm drunk.  It took about 2 years to get to that point, even.

Since I've had my first kid (February), I've tried quitting. I once quit for about two years, then had a spell where I went partying in Dewey Beach, DE for about a week and a half and smoked about three cartons.

It's been a farging bitch quiting since, I get about two weeks into, stress over something and that'll do it, that and if I so much think about drinking a beer, and I get insatiable cravings. Like the first time I did it (for the two years), I'll just have man up and not touch booze for about a month and suck it up until I'm out of the woods.

It was more for me than you anyway.
