I remember that too.  But I find it hard to believe that the Deputy Ops could be gay...no way in real life a homo makes it that high in such a machismo obsessed culture, regardless how much of a hardass he is.

i disagree and i think simon does as well...and him showing rawls is another way to break that sterotype...imo during the years he spent inside the bmore homocide division he came a across a higher up who he confirmed or at least highly suspected was gay and thats why it was included in the show

most likely

really the only thing simon kept in the mix for pure entertainment factor was omar. in real life, omar did his thing then was in jail. when he got out he cleaned up and wound up in the show. he easily could have died in season one, too, but the character was just unbelievable that they had to keep him around.

the thing that made it work was omar routinely didnt show up into a few episodes into the season, which basically amounted to him spending a lot of time laying low which could help him stay alive for all that time.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Idris Elba has been cast on "The Office" as a new rival to Dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott (Steve Carell).

Elba, most recently seen in Guy Ritchie's "Rocknrolla," will appear in six episodes later this season. Details are slim on his plot line, other than he'll play a no-nonsense hire at Dunder Mifflin's corporate office who will throw Michael Scott into turmoil.

they kick off beadie and bring on stringer.

SD_Eagle5

He's one of those actors I'll always have trouble seperating from Stringer, he was just too good in that role. Larry Gillard Jr. aka D is in that new series the Beast with Patrick Swayze.

MDS

that show was the textbook definition of mediocre

also got the 5 season dvd box set. now my most prized possession.

I had on Baltimore Fox 45 and Ed Norris was on there this morning talking about a lawsuit against the police.  It still amazes me how Simon was able to cast people so easily for the parts.

Would that lawsuit be the case of the special attack police force that randomly stopped and conducted a rectal search of an innocent man in full view of dozens of witnesses in the middle of the street?

Or a different case in which the cops acted like Colicchio on a steroid fueled beserk?
