You are right....I made a mistake. The announcer's claimed him to run a 4.55 Regardless, if you watch the 60 yard run, he was pulling away from DB's....still impressive as hell, and he probably  has faster game speed than Hunt. In the Hunt clips, he wasn't even pulling away from LB's, let alone DB's. While this guy may not be a "blue chip" RB in the eyes of scouts, to say he is vanilla and non athletic for his size, is upsurd....not sure what tape you were watching.

hunt ran a 4.68...westbrook runs like a 4.5 and i know hes much faster than ilaoa...also if ilaoa ran that fast he would have been a much higher pick

and fast for or athletic for your size doesnt mean youre fast or athletic

doesnt matter much either way as dook is more than likely not making the team

FB is more of a mindset than anything.  Also, the Eagles use a full back maybe 25% of the time.

If this guy likes having the ball in his hands regularly, he's not really a fullback... and certainly has a long road to make the team.

I expect Moats will be gone at some point - probably cut.  Westbrook, Buckhalter, and Hunt are basically guaranteed to make the team... and I don't see them carrying any more than 5 RB's.


Ilaoa's practice squad fodder.  Which is fine for a 7th rounder.

I think Ilaoa depends on how Buck does this year... but I think he's on the PS at the very least, but I wouldn't be shocked if they gave him a chance. Moats is likely outta here and Tapeh's not been the same since the hip injury.

Ilaoa could possibly make the conversion to a FB. Ritchie was a nice pass catching option out of the backfield during his short tenure here. Ilaoa has good hands as evidenced by his collegiate career. If he can demonstrate that he can be a reliable lead blocker, pick up blitzes, and catch a swing pass every once in a while it could work. In that highlight footage he demonstrated that he doesn't shy away from contact; we'll see what he does during TC.

I would like to see Ilaoa and Westbrook line up in the same backfield. Two pass catching options out of the backfield would be nice. However, as a 7th rounder, we'll see how NFL-ready he is. Still, it is an interesting pick; good "value" for a 7th rounder.

 well regardless, we will find out in July. I'll be up at Lehigh to check out all the rooks. I too, would like to see him as the FB who can tote the rock effectively sometimes. If the PS him, I say someone steals him. I had been screaming for the bird's to trade for Michael Turner, who I REALLY think will be a legit #1 RB in the league....till they drafted Hunt and now seem to have too many RB's.
