if youre talking about just next year will peterson is a way better cornerback than any guy they can get at 26

they need to fill the front seven with young talent...and they need to do it right now

If they take a DE in the 1st, I would hope it is Jarvis Moss.

They do need youth there. Howard, who knows what he'll do this year. He has to stay healthy. Same with Kearse - he needs to stay healthy and bulk up from the 235-240 he's at now.

Trent Cole has to play a whole season strong. The last two years he's gone sackless in the final 6 games.

Juqua Thomas is just a guy. Can he build on last year? Not likely. But he's good for 5-6 a year.

Rome

I agree but I don't see a defensive end or tackle being there who is any better than the guys they have now.

If Willis fell or they could trade up to get him, then I'd say go for it.  If Timmons fell to them, I'd grab him too.

PS: Will Peterson sucks ass, IGY.

PhillyPhreak54

Will Peterson is pretty good, Rome. Remember last year he was signed midway through the season and hadn't played in awhile. He wasn't exactly conditioned.

I'll take him as the nickel. Hell, I actually prefer him to Rod Hood now. Hood's play dropped off last year, IMO. He started giving up long balls and his run support was non-existant.

And if Willis makes it past SF and BUF, the Eagles better be on that phone and offering every spare part they have to move the hell up.

if hes healthy...and admittedly thats a fairly large if...hes actually a very good third corner...as j said as good if not better than hood who was very solid in his own right

I could see them taking a corner is that is by far the best player on the board, only because James is signed to a one-year deal and they could groom a corner to be their nickel corner in 08-09

he's not big enough to be a 3-down player.  he would be most effective playing passing situations only, but due to other injuries he has been forced into starting roles his first two years.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Agreed. But I would hope that he could develop into a guy who can play 3 downs. If he can, and sustain the level of play he does in the first 2/3's of the year, it would be nice.

As for them taking a corner, I don't know. I would like Leon Hall, but no shot there. Maybe Aaron Ross. I don't know if I am on the Chris Houston bandwagon. Mostly because that homo Steuber is swinging from his jock, but I am always wary of guys who shoot up because of fast times. He did play pretty good against top WRs last year, but still.

killa is bigger than burgess and in phenominal shape...theres no reason he cant and wont lead the league in sacks one day...if he cant play the run cause hes to small thats one thing but i dont believe he has worn down the last two years...maybe he was hurt or maybe he just didnt play well due to factors like being double teamed

He's not too shabby of a run defender. Teams run at him because they know he can flow to the ball well. Maybe the doubles did get to him. That's why they absolutely need Kearse to stay healthy. Because Freak takes away pressure from the other guys.

Rome

I guess I'm missing something where Peterson's concerned.  Are you guys suggesting that any of the cornerbacks who would be available at the bottom of the first round wouldn't be preferable to him?  I didn't see much of anything from him last year, and although that might have been because of him learning the defense or rebounding from his injury, I just don't see him being the answer at the #3 corner.

no one knows what any of the late first early second corners are gonna do in their careers but im pretty certain none of them would come in this year and unseat peterson who again is a nice third corner....hell if peterson proves to be able to stay healthy he can be a starting quality corner...he was with the giants before he got hurt

If Revis or Leon hall are there they have to take them.  I was extremely happy with Peterson and not happy they let his test the market after the season.  When he's healthy he's a starting CB in this league.

I'd take a CB in round 2...I like Fred Bennett from SC.
