one of cheeks biggest criticisms is that hes to much of a players coach and doesnt come down on players enough....plus in general he seems like one of the nicest guys ever

is this city trying to set the record for the most awful announcers in a city at one time

the phillies are the worst in baseball

the flyers are terrible

merril got a great voice but hes overrated and quick is a joke

zumoff and mix tho were fabulous

i do like mcginnis and i think he can do color but hes great as a play by play guy and we dont need two pbp guys on one broadcast

IGY lives outside Philly and goes to all the home games... so when would he really get to listen to Merrill?

mix was one guy who would rip the Sixers during a game if they were playing zesty, i wonder if that had anything to do with it

i havent heard a ton of teams announcers but of the ones i have bob papa for the giants is better

howard david is much better he might be the best in the biz

joel meyers is excellent too

and theres a bunch of college guys that are better

i love merril cause he is the eagles and hes what i grew up on...and if i could get him on the radio at home for away games i would listen...but as an overall announcer he isnt close to the best....not that hes a bad announcer but imo hes always lived off his voice

I liked Steve Mix, but IMO he wasn't irreplaceable. Todd sucks though and would be an awful replacement. If Mix is going to go they will need a better replacement than Todd.

As for the Philly announcers, we have the best in the business. Jim Jackson and Saunders are great. Merrill Reese is the best football play by play guy, Zumoff and Mcginnis are great. The Phillies have Harry still. He isn't what he used to be, but still one of the best.

All in all, Philly has a great combination of announcers, but the strengths are in play by play rather than the analysts. I think if you look at each team, the PBP guy is better than the analyst IMO.

Steve Mix used to use that goddamn telestrator for no reason other than to use it and it drove me nuts. Without fail he'd use it to circle the stats...dude, we can see 'em fine without you putting circles around 'em okaythanksbye.
