The BIGSTUD

Don't get too doom and gloom yet. While the Sixers have only like a .78% chance of getting the #1 overall and around a .85% chance of getting the #2. The Sixers have a whopping roughly 1.01% chance to get the #3 overall!

and if you combine the chances of us getting one of the 3 it increases even more!
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Sun-Sentinel:

QuoteWith Gary Payton on the verge of retirement, Jason Williams entering the final year of his contract and Wade hardly up to full-time ball-handling responsibilities, there again is the issue of finding the right distributor for Wade and Shaquille O'Neal.

The options in free agency, especially in a Heat price range that effectively rules out the likes of Chauncey Billups, are limited to second-tier types such as Chucky Atkins, Steve Blake and Smush Parker.

The trade market could present Earl Watson, Luke Ridnour, Sebastian Telfair, Brevin Knight or possibly Dooling, who has the right to opt out of the final year on his Magic contract.

The draft hardly would appear to be Riley's first choice for such a significant position and the options in the Heat's No. 20 range are limited to scoring types such as Texas A&M's Acie Law and Oregon's Aaron Brooks.

The other option would be converting Williams' $8.9 million expiring deal into a veteran point guard with a lengthier contract such as Atlanta's Speedy Claxton, Indiana's Jamaal Tinsley, New York's Stephon Marbury, Philadelphia's Andre Miller, Phoenix's Marcus Banks, Sacramento's Mike Bibby or Minnesota's Mike James or Marko Jaric. Beyond Miller or Bibby, none of those other options appears particularly palatable.

No matter the approach, expect a proactive focus at point guard after the hard lessons learned this past season.

Would you trade Miller (2 years) for Jason Williams (1 year and more cap room after next season)?  I wouldn't...

Rome

Miller for a stiff like Jason Williams?

What the hell is that assclown smoking?

ice grillin you

What the hell is that assclown smoking?

hes miamis beat writer....of course he throw that deal out there

jason williams is pathetic...a year with him would set this franchise back a decade

they need to move louis williams to the two draft conley and tutor him under miller for the next two years
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

tons of cap room after next season if they made that deal.

Rome

David Aldridge should do a retaliatory column suggesting that the Sixers trade Miller for Wade.

Holla.

True but they would just screw it up anyway.  Miller's a good point guard and guys like that don't grow on trees.

they're not winning a championship with miller so i wouldn't mind them trading him in the right deal...straight up for williams isn't very good but they might be able to move him for something else.

Who else would be available in the summer of 2008 besides any of the unextended 2004 draft picks (Howard, Okafor, Gordon, Livingston, Harris, Deng, etc.)?

Rome

Unless someone overwhelms them with a deal, I don't see the point of giving him away for nothing more than cap space.

He's still a very good player, bro.  I wouldn't do the deal.  No way.

then cut em...hes not a point guard

No way. Give last year's team some time to play and see how they do. If this continues to work, even re-signing Miller would be a good idea.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

hunt

crazy talk...the goal is to rebuild with draft picks and/or free agents.  re-signing a 32 year old pg isn't part of that plan.

article in SI.com about Matt Barnes

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/chris_mannix/05/10/barnes.warriors/

interesting part about the Sixers:

QuoteIt was Barnes's stint with the 76ers, however, that had the most profound impact on his career. In 2005-06, Barnes played in 50 games for Philadelphia, averaging three points in 10.8 minutes. He also developed what can best be described as an acrimonious relationship with Sixers head coach Maurice Cheeks. According to Barnes, Cheeks would frequently degrade him, resulting in his confidence sinking to an all-time low.

"He's the biggest a------ in the world," says Barnes. "He talked to me like I wasn't a man. Other players saw it and would tell me, 'Don't let him talk to you like that.' "
