Man, when I think about the great football I saw played at the Vet, and the great players, I know I'll never see anything like it again. Reggie White, Seth Joyner, Randall Cunningham, Mike Quick, Ron Jaworski, Keith Jackson, Harold Carmichael,  Wilbert Montgomery, Keith Byars, Andre Waters, Clyde Simmons, Jerome Brown, Jody Schultz.......................Lawrence Taylor, Phil Simms, Dave Meggett, Art Monk, Charlie Joyner, Joe Jacoby, Russ Grimm, John Riggens, Dexter Manley, Tony Dorsett, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Randy White...............and a whole buch more I can't remember.

The place was a sewer until you walked up that tunnel to the field, then it was magic. I have memories from the Vet that I hope stay with me until the day I die. One is a 99 yard TD pass in overtime from Jaws to Quick against the Falcons for the game winner. Good God we got drunk that night!!  :yay :yay :yay :yay

The only thing I like about the Linc over the Vet is the bathrooms.   The Vet bathrooms may have been worse than a 3rd world country prison.    As far as the game experience itself I really dont enjoy the Linc as much.   I guess my section is not as good fan wise as yours Rome.  I have been to most of the games at the Linc since it opened and for many of the games the fans in my section dont even stand up and cheer.  In fact, I have given up even yelling at them anymore for being douche bags because it is a waste of energy.

Only way it could have been nastier at the vet is if they set up the bathrooms like they do in UDel's football stadium, were you stand on a concrete slab and piss on the wall.
UD's yellow walls are awsome.  Going to Dover Downs though, you pee into a Trough(sp?)

Didn't the vet have thoes back in the mid 80's?  I could have sworn I pissed in one when my grandfather took me to my first phillies game back then.
I'm not from Philly but some say I'm blunt.

The man. The myth. The legend.

You guys remember the extra urinal they put in for the bathrooms on the upper level?  You know, the one they crammed into the corner so that you had to literally bend down on one knee to piss in because of the slope of the concrete section above your head?

Maybe that's what Paco is referring to?

They were like Sauna's.  Another thing is how crappily they cleared snow at the vet.  Ice was still everywhere, and i would fall an average of 2 times a game on the 700 level steps.

I remember all the South Philly trash that was always there. Now they stay in the parking lot because they're too poor to buy tickets.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

True talk.

Nothing else in that place worked but the heaters in the bathroom were always blazing.  It could be 4 degrees out yet if you spent more than five minutes in the toilet, you'd come out sweating your balls off.

Actually if you spent more than five minutes in the toilet, you would have some drunk 300lb neanderthal pissing down your back.

I think the Linc will eventually get more rough. I still hold out hope. I think the Linc is so prissy because of the atmosphere. The team is popular because they win so often in the regular season. The fair-weather fans won't give a shtein about the team once they aren't in the playoffs every season. Once they start posting some 7-9, and 6-10 seasons, it'll start to get back to the way it was.

I remember going to my first game against the taterskins (who won) in the Vet with my uncle, who always had season tickets, but stopped when the opened the Linc, teaching me how to properly taunt players and opposing fans. In the parking lot after the game as we were waiting in line to get out of the lot, I remember some taterskins fan talking shtein, and get beer, food and a trash can thrown at him.

The Linc will never have the same intimidating stature that The Vet did but given time, I'm sure it will become less prissy.  It's like a new baseball glove....just needs to be broken in.

PPinDC is right. A couple of losing seasons and the fans will harden up. Until then, it's fargwad central.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

im not sure that will be the case, i think you will see more empty seats then anything. in my section 227 you barely see the same people behind you or in front of you every week.

Really? I see that in the preseason in our section but not in the regular season.
