I hate to mention this but this also means the Gocong experiment at LB is likely history.  Hopefully they'll use him as a situational pass rusher as he was meant to be used instead of shoehorning him into a spot where he didn't belong.

Maybe... maybe not.  It's not as though Spikes is a long term answer at SAM.  If nothing else, it prevents them from handing over the position to a guy who hasn't played an NFL down and is still a total unknown.  This gives him time to learn the position and possibly take over when Spikes moves on.

and Walker stay around for depth

That's a damn shame then because Walker had pretty much disappeared the final 10 weeks of the season.

I am a HUGE fan of this deal. Walker was clearly expendable, and although it would have been nice to have shoveled off Rayburn, but obviously that wasnt possible. This is as close to a steal as you can get though, IMO.

Spikes is an improvement over Jones is the understatement of the year, and Holcomb all but guarantees that we wont be taking Beck or any other crappy QB in the draft. Plus the 7th is virtually useless; minus a Colston like fluke. And, it should cause Dhani to be released.

I cant think of anything better than that. This is probably the hapiest I have been over a FO move since Kearse was signed. Not because I think Spikes is gonna come in and be Lance Briggs, but because of the overall value and the fact that it could turn out to be a significantly good move.

Definitely one of the more unpredictable off-seasons in a while.

Spikes should be alright for two more years...nice add.  Barring injury, he'll certainly be better in Philly than he was in Buffalo last year, right?  And that would be enough to make him an improvement to the Eagles, so...good.

Holcomb, meh.
