Wade wasn't as horrible as I think he's portrayed but at the same time, as the article stated, he was never able to pull the trigger on a deal that got the Phillies into the playoffs.  That's why I got fed up with him.  That and for trading Polanco who should be the Phillies starting 3rd baseman.

Wade is somewhat like a counterpart of Andy Reid for the Phillies.  Wade got the Phils back to respectability, and they have been in the hunt for the last half-decade, but he could not cover the final distance to make them a truly elite team.

Reid has, of course, had more success in making the playoffs, but the general point is there.

Offense comes up small on a day they needed to come up big. They've been bad this entire series, thankfully the bullpen came through. They'll be well rested for the Braves series.

Seems bad, but the Mets have used their bullpen every day for the past week. And none of them are any good to begin with. And they don't have a day off. At least the Phils got Romero, Myers and Gordon 2 days off.

San Diego got swept at home by Colorado, so the Phils stay .5 back

SD = 3 at San Francisco, 4 at Milwaukee

Phillies get James/Hudson/Smoltz this series.  crap.

Only 1 game up on Colorado and they have a Dodger team that gave up, and a DBacks team that might have nothing to play for by the weekend. So....
