Off to a great start already.  Crumb bums down 2-0 after 1/2 inning.

They will win 3 total games against the Padres and Mets, so they need this one to have a winning record in the next 10.

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

If they would permit pitchers to actually throw instead of coddling them like flags, they might build up their arms enough to throw more than 175 innings per year and 90 pitches per game without breaking down.

farging ridiculous.

Aaron Rowand = clutch

here's an idea, lets let him become a free agent

NGM

Rich Dubeesnacks classified Cole's injury as a mild elbow sprain with a precautionary MRI tomorrow.  And since the Phillies are generally so accurate with their injury diagnosis, I will choose to believe that Cole will only miss one start.   :win

the fact that he said that they "caught it early" says to me its more than just standard soreness....i mean you dont catch soreness...it just happens

and i agree with romey...something is seriously wrong when your stud young pitcher cant get thru august without breaking down...what the farg is the point of having him

There used to be a time when a pitcher just pitched through the soreness.  Nowadays, they're on the DL with the first twinge.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Hamels get the Tommy John treatment next season.

From the Inky article:

QuoteHamels, who is 14-5 with a 3.50 ERA, has thrown a career-high 167 1/3 innings this season.

Iin 1972, Steve Carlton pitched 196 innings... before the All-Star Game.

In 1980, he was down to 155 innings in the first half.
