ice grillin you

solid closers are relatively easy to find

what we all should be concerned about is if myers is a good closer then what the hell happens to the rotation

in fact if they are gonna stay with myers hopefully being a closer id just as soon get rid of him...as it would just make their rotation completely laughable and have them farther than ever away from any sort of contention
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

At what point has myers ever been a consistant starter?

When did this happen?

the guy is only 26 and has started to come around the last two years showing improvement...im not phreak who thinks hes a future ace but jesus 26 is so young to give up on a potential great #2 or 3 starter....which myers could be

the upside in sticking with him in that capacity is so much higher than hoping hes gonna be a good closer

the fact that the phils abandoned a 26 year old starting pitcher with good stuff is amazing to me and just another in a long line of stupid decisions by this organization

Well, in the four seasons previous to this one he pitched 193, 176, 215 & 198 innings and won 14, 11, 13 & 12 games respectively.

I'd say that's fairly consistent, wouldn't you?

Wingspan

Ok...so he's been consistantly just above mediocre. Whooopppie!

his numbers were pretty good for his first four years in the league...a lot of guys would kill for them...theres certainly been guys with equal or worse numbers in their first four years who have turned out to be very good pitchers

theres an area in between phreaks assesment of myers becoming the next john smoltz and wing thinking hes the worst thing since bruce ruffin...its in that area where i stand...

but thats neither here nor there i just dont see how at his age and with the phillies current and future pitching needs how anyone could agree with the guy being made into a closer

Wingspan

I don't think he's the worst thing since Bruce Ruffin.

I think he's an average starter that MAY be a #2 on a bad team or a #3 on a good team, but I think he's actually going to be a very good closer.

Kent, Garciaparra and Kemp are out of the Dodgers lineup today.  The Phils might have a chance...

Howard with a bomb to tie the game in the top of the 2nd...

He was up in the 1st when Victorino got thrown out at 2nd trying to steal

Wingspan

Victorino is an idiot for trying to steal with howard up.

In fact, for someone who has the skills that he shown, he's has the propensity to be a complete jackass sometimes.

OH...and Burrell is almost hitting .500 in july. Did he get back together with Heather Mitts?

i'll always love Harry Kalas, but this is my first time listening to Vin Scully, and it's not even really close with the talent level.  Sculley is remarkable with his words.

harry is essentially a vegetable at this point in his career...however because hes harry you gotta go easy on em but more so because he hates wheels and anyone who is an enemy of that douchebag is my bestest friend

Vin is the man.  He seems to get better with age.  What I like about him is he is by no means a homer.  It' s almost impossible to distinguish that he is the Dodgers play by play announcer.  We get all the Dodger games here and it is really a treat to listen to him
