The pitch that Howard struck out on in the 9th was a thing of beauty.  It looked like a whiffle ball screwball.  He simply had no chance there.

Bourn proved conclusively that he needs more seasoning in the Minors.  With his speed he could have scored easily if he kept running or at least made an aggressive turn at 2nd.

Also - is it Dobbs or Hobbs out there right now?   :-D

He needs to learn to watch his 3rd base coach and not the play

Goddamn Ryan Madson blew it tonight. Don't give up those 2, they win.

Or if Vic, Utley and/or Howard get Rollins in after his leadoff double.

Dobbs is clutch.

Freddy pitched very well outside of that HR to Jackson.

Stop. If the offense showed up at ALL before the bottom of the 9th it would have been a moot point.
"Oh, yeah. They'll still boo. They have to. They're born to boo. Just now, they'll only boo with two Os instead of like four." - Larry Andersen

Madson had Clark struck out on a pretty pitch the ump didn't call, he then walked him and the wheels feel off
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Another quality moment from Sarge last night:

CW camera shows a new fan group, "Ruiz's Raisins" (awful), where a couple of guys are wearing those 80's California Raisin costumes

Wheels: "That's a California raisin."
Sarge: "How can you tell?"
Wheels: "It said so on his shirt."
Sarge: "Oh....thought maybe it was because of the taste..."
Wheels: "Nah"
Sarge: "...or the texture."

Rome

Sarge was babbling about something in the bottom of the 9th and Harry cut him off at the knees.   Just before Harry cut him off I was thinking to myself, 'wow - thanks for the deep thoughts, Jack Handey.'   :-D

If the Phillies are doing what I think they're doing (forcing Harry out) then putting him in a booth with mushmouth and the rug would be the way to do it.  If it's unbearable for us to listen to, can you imagine how bad it must be for a guy like Harry?

Sad.

I heard that. I found it hysterical.

Yes, but that is why they have a bottom of the 9th, to be able to score runs. The fact is that the offense stunk all game, Garcia pitched well enough to win and then Madson came in and shtein himself AGAIN.

Rome

Lieber got pounded for five runs in the second.

Phillies down 5-1 in the home half of the third inning.

Go team.

PhillyPhreak54

sixty two!

Classic Phils; sweep a team and then not be able to build on it.

Also classic Phils is the struggling w/ scoring runs after having a 10+ run game (ATL on Sun)

Geowhizzer

D-Backs pitcher just took out the third baseman.

Rome

Utley hits a dinker into center... 5-3 douchebacks.
