I've seen a lot of these types of calls in the outfield, and if the outfielder doesn't touch the ball, it's not usually ruled an error.  And yes, especially by the home scorer.

Between the legs is different than the play that occurred.  Not applicable in this case.

i thought you were saying a ball has to be touched to be an error

either way that was an error period...the ball was on the ground well before it got the the cf he had plenty of time to stop the ball and he whiffed on it....it was a classic error

I totally agree that it SHOULD be an error.  I just rarely see the call made for an error.

Not a doubt that a CF should have easily had that ball cut off if he played it correctly.  Should be a single - maybe a double if Rollins took the chance.

you validated the nerd part with the grindhouse review
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

im begining to love Sarge in the booth...he's so bad, he just called his own son "Gary Jr. Mathews"
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

just over the last two games ive come to really like him...what he says is excellent his delivery is terrible tho....but hes getting better...he comes strong too unlike that sickening homer wheeler...calling out burrell on not tagging up was beautiful...and wheeler was gonna say nothing until sarge did...all wheeler said was "and the runner retreat back to their bases" and then he was ready to announce the next at bat

Call me.

And they blow another opportunity with 2 on and get nothing out of it.

We were spoiled growing up with Kalas and Ashburn - and for those slightly older, By Saam and Bill Campbell.

Hall of Fame announcers calling games for largely horrible teams.

From the tiny sample I heard of Sarge, I'd agree with IGY.  He needs to work on his actual announcing, but he does call it the way he sees it, which is a plus when paired with a guy who owes his career to giving BJs to Bill Giles.

Whitey died when I was pretty young (10ish). So I basically grew up on a senial Harry, Larry and Wheels.

Yea....

Sucks to be you.  We've all been witness to some horrible baseball, but at least some of the "older" folk had some great announcers to help make the sufferage more palatable.

Even worse for the kids now. Harry is about to die, Wheels is all powerful and Sarge is...yea.
