Anyone had a crappy meal at a cheap joint lately?

Trader Joes is a wonderful example of the exception that proves the rule.  Wildly popular AND excellent.

I had a LaSpada's cheesesteak at the ball game yesterday.  They're usually pretty good.  It wasn't.  In fact, it was piss poor.  There wasn't enough meat on the thing and the roll was stale.

I told the lady behind the counter about it and she just shrugged her shoulders and said "sorry about that."

meh, whole foods kills trader joes.

Wrong.  Both are quality natural/organic suppliers, but Trader Joe's is much easier on the wallet.

if you think trader joes is competing with whole foods as a one stop grocery store then yeah.

but that's not the point...the point is that people are crazy about it, and they happen to be right.  good food good price etc.

I like 'em, but my wife hates them.

Good beer selection, and something like 20 sauces.  Good nachos too.  Phanatic and I go to one each Sunday during football season to watch the Eagles.

Wife hates it because everything is served on paper instead of plates.  I guess she's just a little snoot sometimes.

Aren't you boycotting that place after a manager was talking ish to you about the Eagles?  Or something like that?

Not boycotting. Just making sure to be extra rowdy during games. Fat farg definitly eats too much of the product...

I trust you are talking about the manager there, and not me.  If I'm wrong, it's GO-TIME!

I was gonna boycott, but they have the best TV's around and I like their wings.  So instead, I'll go there, and won't stop my kids from being loud and obnoxious.  Also, I'll spill a drink or two for them to clean up.  And then I'll tip about 12%, and tell the waitress she would have gotten more, but her manager's a douche and she should take it up with him about how to treat regulars.

They started in CA and have their HQ there, I believe.

i don't think trader joes is any cheaper than whole foods.  i go to whole foods for dinner at least once a week.  they make bomb ass sushi and the samples are nice.  they have free wine tasting a lot too.

Father Demon

I had heard of both places, but have never seen one in person.  A quick search shows a WF about 28 miles from my house, and a TJ's 15 miles.

Worth the trip?

i actually don;t think theres much of a difference except whole foods is 10x bigger and they have a deli that will make you sandwiches, sushi, salad bar, all that shtein.  i prefer whole foods because its 3 blocks from my house.
