I'm secretly hoping we sign Dillon:
QuoteBills | Dillon does not visit
Thu, 8 Mar 2007 14:06:20 -0800

Mike Reiss, of the Boston Globe, reports the Buffalo Bills had hoped to meet with unrestricted free-agent RB Corey Dillon (Patriots) Thursday, March 8, but Dillon did not make the trip to Buffalo.

Dillon would be a good fit if he's interested in averaging less than 10 carries a game and signing no more than a 2-year-deal.  The Eagles won't accommodate anything more than that.

Eaglez

Dillon is a good short-term solution. He's an experienced big back that works well between the tackles. I think he would be a great compliment to Westbrook.

It would be nice to have Dillon line up as a single back and then split Westbrook out wide. I like the possibilities.

Spadaro on the WR's

QuoteA week ago, most of us thought the Eagles would enter the 2007 season with Brown, Lewis, Baskett, Avant and either Stallworth -- if the team could re-sign him -- or a high draft pick or maybe Jeremy Bloom if he showed he could really blossom in the spring and summer. There were some other dark horse candidates, including youngster Billy Sampy, in whom the Eagles see a lot of talent, but the aforementioned group was pretty much what we thought would constitute the wide receiver corps this season.

Stabby stabby.

Dillen

That's what is annoying about Spadaro. Yes, Sampy showed talent in the preseason and probably has during practices. Why bother talking about it when he's going to be de-activated if he makes the team anyways? He wont get any playing time.

Schefter was on Total Access and said the Bills were no longer interested in Dillon, mentioned the Eagles as possible suitors.

BigEd76

The Bills weren't interested in Dillon, or Dillon wasn't interested in the Bills?

PhillyPhanInDC

He said Dillon canceled his visit with the Bills - he did not miss it.

Schefter mentioned that Dillon wants to go to a team like Philly, becuase it is the best place left in need of a second back in terms of ability to get to the post season.

Sounded good. Let's hope the FO acts on it.

Browns | Droughns to be released
Thu, 8 Mar 2007 16:15:25 -0800

Adam Schefter, of NFL Network, reports Cleveland Browns RB Reuben Droughns will be released.

I think I would take Droughns over Dillon or Brown, but given his past legal problems, it's a long shot the Eagles if sniff in his direction.

The best place... outside of NE?
Why did he force his own release to go take on the same role in a different city, with a much lower likelihood of going to the superbowl?
There must have been something going on up there in NE. Bellicheck seems like a real Ahole...

Probably new that Maroney was going to be featured, they have Faulk as the third down guy, and they will probably draft a guy in the later rounds to be a goal line/backup kind of deal. He touches were going to drop of to nothing.

Here, he'll probably get 8-15 touches a game, a lot of near the goal line, and is basically backing up a small, much more fragile RB in Westy. There is a decent shot that Dillon, if he came here, would at least start a few games this season. Forgot about Sammy Morris. He probably new they were going younger in FA as well, and asked to be let go.
