Reno's an unrestricted free agent.  I wonder which team will pounce on him first!

Rumor has it that Dave and Buster's wants to steal him away from C&P's.

Eagles sign Reno Mahe to 4 year $12mil extension, converting him to WR, a position vacated by letting Dante Stallworth leave in free agency.

I heard the Philadium offered Reno 8 hrs a week/$5.50 an hour/no tips. (Eagles countered with $4.95).

QuoteWord of caution to all fans out there: Don't believe the contract numbers being thrown around for the free agents being signed.

Here's why: They're usually pumped up by the agent.

When safety Michael Lewis signed with the 49ers over the weekend, it was reported as a deal that included $10 million in guarantees. But, according to figures obtained by CBS SportsLine.com, the deal has almost $10 million in roster bonuses -- not guarantees.

Lewis will get a roster bonus of $3.5 million this season, and then if he plays well, he'll get one $3.5 next season and $3 million in 2009. If he doesn't play well, the 49ers can cut him without paying the last two.

That reported $80 million deal for 49ers corner Nate Clements includes loads of funny money. It is a back-loaded deal with high base salary numbers that he will never see.

Clements received a $10 million signing bonus, which is good, but the last three years total $34 million in base salary. There is no way he ever plays for that kind of money.

Some of the other deals reported are as fluffy as those two. That's what agents do. They make their deals look better than they really are, but a closer look shows how false those numbers can be.

i don't know why SF signed Lewis, he can't even walk straight without falling down!

Daniel Graham to the Broncos .... 5 yrs, $30M, $15M guaranteed

Bobby Wade to the Vikings .... 5 yrs, $15M.  The Vikings are desperate for anyone to sign there...

It's Minnesota. Nobody is eager to go play in a dome, wear purple, freeze to death and be sorrounded by a bunch of white people.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

QB Eagles

Graham and Scheffler will be a very effective pairing at tight end. Denver's been all over the place during the free agency period so far.

Im not saying that I wanted Harris, Simmons or Banta-Cain, but I find it hilarious that all three are better than Dhani and McCoy and not one was brought in for a visit.

When have the Eagles ever brought anyone in for "a visit"? They either:

1) know they are going to sign them & do.

2) try to hold them hostage so they can't leave for the next FA visit (I think Andy hid Warrick Dunn's car keys when he was in)

3) The FA never makes it to Philly, as it's been their boyhood dream to rehab their knee in Cleveland

Broncos want Bly to play corner opposite Bailey
ESPN.com news services

DENVER -- The Broncos have heard cornerback Dre' Bly is bitter about being traded to Denver, and that he'd prefer to play for Washington.

The team, though, wants to give him some time to warm up to the deal. It's only been a few days since the 29-year-old Bly was acquired from Detroit -- along with a sixth-round pick -- for running back Tatum Bell, offensive lineman George Foster and a fifth-round pick.

"Hopefully he'll see the light," said Jim Bates, assistant head coach in charge of defense, at a Tuesday get-together for the Broncos' new coaches. "He'll see the opportunity in Denver of being part of a great football team, great organization and being opposite the side of Champ Bailey. Hopefully he'll come around and say, 'Hey, this is where I want to be.'"

If Bly doesn't come around, the Broncos could probably still get a deal done with the taterskins. A report on the Washington Post Web site on Tuesday night said that the team has restructured contracts in an attempt to make room for the defensive back.

Washington tried to acquire Bly from Detroit before he was dealt to the Broncos. NFL sources told the Post that the taterskins offered Bly a lucrative contract extension when they were trying to complete a trade with the Lions. Denver has not shown a willingness to extend Bly's current deal.

Bates hasn't spoken to Bly personally, but said others, including coach Mike Shanahan and general manager Ted Sundquist, have contacted him.

Bly's agent, Kennard McGuire, didn't return a call or an e-mail to The Associated Press.

"I don't know what Dre's thinking," Bates said. "Hopefully, over the next couple weeks, he'll come our direction and be positive. We want a positive player once we get in here."

The Post, citing people it did not name, reported Bly would rather play for the taterskins because they're closer to his home in Chesapeake, Va.

It makes you wonder why they didn't go after Stallworth.

And with Graham's signing in Denver, I get the feeling LJ's numbers just went up--he won't be in Eagles green in 2008--and the Eagles might even entertain offers to trade him during the draft.
