CLEMENTS, LEWIS IN THE HOUSE

Matt Maiocco of the Stanta Rosa Press-Democrat reports that cornerback Nate Clements and safety Michael Lewis were visiting the 49ers on Friday.

Neither player has signed a contract with the team, yet.

TEXANS IN MIX FOR GARCIA?

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans are interested in quarterback Jeff Garcia.

The report comes at a time when there are rumors that Garcia has reached a deal with the Raiders.  We have been unable to confirm or debunk said rumors.

"Yeah, we chased him in Denver," coach Gary Kubiak, former Broncos offensive coordinator, said. "I've always been impressed with the guy.  He's one tough son of a gun.  He makes smart decisions.  He's been productive just about everywhere he's been."
"The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.""  R.I.P George.

As much as we've bashed Lewis here, it's never good when someone signs with a divisional rival and has a chance to get even twice a year.  That's why I'd rather see him back out west with an up-and-coming team that the Eagles won't face this year, instead of joining the Giants where they're a borderline playoff team and he's already familiar with the defense Spagnuolo plans to install.

It's Friday, I'm about to leave work, and I don't feel like typing out full responses, but since you wanted a full paragraph, there you go.  :P

Haven't been around much and didn't even know Quintin Mikell was re-signed until yesterday...

1. The Stallworth stuff is goddamn ridiculous. Good job, FO. Just let him walk away. They are going to pimp Baskett and Avant to us. I have no problem with either of those guys when in supporting roles WITH Stallworth and Brown. But to have them replace him? Stupid.

2. Good job getting Thomas and Mikell signed. Both are role players who help out.

3. Sign a LB, please. Preferably a strongside one.

4. It's a crime that Dhani Jones was no on the transaction wire yesterday as being released.
