put it this way...if this happened with two black sons of a family who lives in the project, or two crackers whose parents live in a trailer park, you wouldn't be assuming the best of the parents.

go ahead and argue otherwise

If the kids were minors, I could see all that.  But they're adults.  Granted, they have been coddled and treated like 13 year olds, but do you really think Reid is going to all those hearings, trials, counseling, etc?  Is he gonna go on Dr. Phil, and attend NA meetings with the two little shteinheads?

Excellent post, Dio.  24 & 21 year old kids don't need their parents bailing them out of trouble.  They need to grow up and tend to matters like men, not spoiled brats.

I don't see why people feel like he has to be a good father.  Maybe he really is just a zesty father.  Some people aren't fit to be parents.  I'm one of them.

You're not a parent so you wouldn't understand my line of thinking on the matter, Dio.  I feel bad for the guy because he's  a parent whose children have strayed badly.  As a parent, you want what is best for your children.  It's just that simple, dude.

Also - as I said just a few moments ago, the responsibility lies at the feet of the children now.  They're both grown men and have to own up for their actions.  That doesn't mean I can't feel sympathy for their father, though.

my point exactly....andy is upper class white and probably most important of all is the coach of the philadelphia eagles....so he must be a grand parent...right?

youre incredibly naive...but even if that utopian idea was true you can want whats best for your kids and at the same time not do whats best for them

At the same time, if a black kid from the projects or a white trailer park kid come out of their upbringings to be successful, well mannered, etc... is it just assumed that it was a fluke?

The best thing for IGY's kid is to be raised by his darling mother, I heard.

Any bad parenting by Reid was done years ago. These are grown men and if they are still psychologically suckling on Mommy's teats and bouncing on Daddy's knee at the ages of 21 and 24 they have no one to blame but themselves.

If these dopes don't have any initiative to launch, they need to be pushed. The best thing Reid can do now is say, "Emotionally I'll be there for you, but Daddy's house and Daddy's checkbook are no longer available to you." Maybe they would end up turning things around and becoming responsible men, maybe they'd end up sucking dicks for heroin money, but at least they'd have the dignity of independence.

Agree.  But to paraphrase the coach, players have to make plays, but Andy didn't put them in the best position to be successful.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Reid has done some pretty zesty parenting recently.  For example, letting your adult live-in child with a history of speeding tickets drive the company car.

Maybe that's not parenting, though.  Whatever it is, Andy bears plenty of responsibility for recent events.

hell, take out the "history of speeding tickets" part.  its farging stupid to let anyone not employed by Lurie drive the company car.

it's a dumb move played by someone who thinks he's untouchable, and doesn't take his responsibility seriously.

Andy was on vacation, maybe he didnt "let" anyone drive the car. Perhaps it was just taken without permission?

QuoteBritt Reid has at least one speeding conviction. By his own admission, he has been involved in three crashes since 2002, one of which resulted in an ongoing lawsuit in Montgomery County Court.

The injured driver in that case, Murray Nathanson of Wynnewood, has accused Britt Reid of speeding and recklessly colliding with his vehicle on Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore while driving an Eagles-leased GMC Yukon SUV in January 2002.

The accident involving the company Tahoe was in 2002.  Try to keep up.

Or do you happen to know that Andy was on holiday at the time of that incident too?  Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, and maybe Britt took the car without asking regardless where fatso was.

I'm assuming Reid knew about it because they seem to get whatever they want...I think it's a safer bet to assume that Reid let him drive the car than to assume the kid took it without asking.

But insofar as your intent is to point out that I'm making an assumption, you're right.
