Because now people will read them in his voith.

The man. The myth. The legend.

It's as if Stephen A. really wants to rip into McNabb hard, but he's slightly holding off to keep his options open.

Quite frankly, it's nothing we haven't heard before and not that interesting.

it doesnt have to be all or none...thats what i dont get about a lot of fans...even if the evidence says to the contrary its like you have to either defend a guy to the death or murder him all the time...its clear that steven a likes mcnabb a lot and doesnt want to kill him but in the end he has to speak the truth...which is a perfectly normal position to take

Journalists aren't supposed to "like" guys.  If they have something negative to say, they should get their point across without hesitation.  The irony of this is that usually I dislike Stephen A's work because he stirs the pot and acts all angry just to stay in persona, but there isn't much substance there.  However, in this case, I think the substance is mostly correct and he's certainly echoing the sentiments of many of the more knowledgeable Philly fan base, but he presents it in a more vanilla fashion than usual.  It's just not well done.

It's truth for you because you agree with it, IGY.

What you fail to understand is not everyone agrees with you or what Smith has written.  Like FF said, it's just more of the same age-old horseshtein that's been beaten to death for years.

youre confusing liking people and rooting for teams

there isnt a writer on earth who wont come right out and say they dislike this guy and really like this guy...happens every minute of every day...what they are supposed to do above all else is be honest and thats what stephen a is doing here...hes fully admitting mcnabb is a great person and he likes him but in the end hes being truthful in saying he doesnt feel as tho hes a leader...absolutely nothing wrong with that...especially from smith who is one guy that wont hesitate to annihilate people...in some cases tho thats not called for

its truth because the evidence says so...mcnabb is a good football player and a good person...but as an emotionally tough leadership type of guy...not so much...i dont know how anyone can dispute that...

now what you can argue is if mcnabb is like that because of reids coddling of him or is it just the type of personality he has carried his whole life...thats the million dollar question

In all of these articles... from Eckel's to ESPN's to Smith's, I keep looking for facts, yet I can't find any.

In every one of these articles, which started with Eckel's repeatedly says "reportedly" that McNabb feels this way and McNabb feels that way.  Trust me... in the media world, "reportedly" means "I ain't got shtein."  It's simply gossip and the only reason it's gathered steam is because other writers/reporters/analysts are anxious to get there name in the fray on the subject without having anything themselves.  Read the article again.  Stephen A.'s article is nothing but a report on Eckel's article with his own opinions thrown on top of it.

Like Fletcher Smith said... everyone is talking to sources "close" to McNabb.  That's not where facts come from.  Facts come from the man himself and none of these guys have talked to him.  They all complain about how silent he's been since his injury and how he won't talk to them, yet they all claim to know he's upset about things.  It's pure speculation and gossip.

Unfortunately, that doesn't stop other writers, analysts and fans from taking this speculation as the gospel as to what McNabb is thinking.

McNabb sometimes reminds me of the kid on the playground you always pick on and he gets upset about it but you actually think he's a cool person you just pick on him because it's easy.  Lighten up Nabby.  You da man!

I disagree - I think Stephen A. is questioning why McNabb doesn't step up to the plate and dismiss these rumors.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.
