There hasn't been a successful Eagles season since 1960.

QuoteStrong opinions like that one should help Jaworski vault up the ESPN ladder.

He doesn't have the bombast of some announcers, just knowledge that comes from a 15-year NFL career and an insatiable appetite for studying film.

Jaws is right on the money as usual. He makes guys like Thiesman look stupid.

the rest of the NFC East severely underperformed

No, they just suck. And they will continue to suck as long as TO is on the Cowboys, Coughlin coaches the Giants, and Snyder owns the taterskins.

This season with a 10-6 record and winning the East,  can be called a success, if it weren't for the way the season ended. That left a bad taste in my mouth that I will be a long while getting rid of, if ever. It has me wishing that Reid would retire to the GM position. If we don't draft for defense the first two picks then someone needs their friggen' head examined.

im not even a win the superbowl or its a failure type person...but when you look at this season overall it was NOT successful

because the nfc sucked and the eagles proved to be one of the better teams in a horrible conference is why the season is not a success...they had ample opportunity to win the new orleans game...a team that wants to claim a successful year has to win games like that...they failed big time in that game especially the coaches

im also very disappointed in jaws...its well known that hes an eagle fan but usually hes pretty responsible and honest with his take on the team...however this nonsense with stallworth is sickening and his blind faith in the front office here causes me to lose a lot of repsect for jaws...especially the stallworth is always injured thing...the guys missed 4 games in three years...way less than mcnabb...but were you to ask jaws if mcnabb should be removed from the team hed laugh...yet with stallworth he tries to give every reason under the sun to let him walk...
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

We got to see what it's like to have an offensive play caller for once. That's worth something.

This is coming from a guy who before this season started talked about how injury prone Brian Westbrook is.

Lets look at Stallworth after his 3rd season in the league.
He had well documented, chronic hammy/groin problems in his first two seasons and missed a good amount of time. Would you have not labled him injury prone still, because he finished his 3rd season without a hammy/groin problem?

Now, two years later, he had another healthy year, followed by....well look what's back, hammy problems.

Don't get me wrong, I want Stallworth back at all costs...but THAT is an injury prone problem...he's had upper leg muscle injuries through his 5 year career, and has missed significant time in 2 seasons, and 3 games (which is borderline on "too much" in a 16 game season) in another.

Brian Westbrook has missed significant time in ONE regular season...other then that he's missed a game or two, and missed the playoffs back in 03 (No, he did NOT miss significant time in '04, he missed 1 (maybe 2) due to injury, and was sat along with the rest of the starters for the last two games because 1st seed was locked up). All different kinds of injuries, a few things a RB isn't unlikely to have happen to him throughout his career (bruised/broken ribs, a sore knee)....but he's injury prone, and the guy with a chronic problem in his hamstrings that has missed time in 3 out of his 5 seasons for longer periods of time...he's NOT injury prone?

Riiiiiight.

Again, don't get me wrong...I want Stallworth back BAD. Just don't understand the double standard.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

ice grillin you

the double standard here is being put forth by the team...saying westbrook kearse and mcnabb are worth big money but stallworth isnt cause he gets hurt a lot....thats the epitome of talking out both sides of your mouth

just say you dont value great wide receivers...that you believe in your spread it around offense and the system makes the players not the other way around...id still say they are idiots but theyd be honest idiots at least

i never said stallworth hasnt been hurt...i said hes missed four games in the last three years...less than numerous other players on the team....and thats a fact...

Stallworth would be a great 1a after full year in the offense and the backups look decent compared to previous years. Ask McNabb to re-structure to get him Stallworth!

These are excellent points except the Eagles did pay alot for TO. Cap aside, I wonder if it is in part because of McNabb, Westy and Kearse that they aren't willing to break the bank now.

shorebird

I'm wondering how many injuries Kearse can come back from. With the way he was playing last year before he was hurt, it was a big loss, and I can't see him coming back to play any were near the level he was playing at. It looked like a real bad injury when watching the replay. But still, he's such a freak athelete, who knows? He might come back.

Kearse isn't going anywhere. You can bank on that. Cutting bait on him would be a big egg on face moment for the organization. They won't be going there no matter how much cap space it could bring them.
