But when one baseball man who had spoken with Mets GM Omar Minaya was asked if the club could end up with both Santana and Lohse, the reply was: "Absolutely."

That would not be good, though.

Lohse (and Livan Hernandez) could be using the Mets to drive up their price elsewhere since nobody else seems to be interested...

I'm almost certain they'll get the deal done.  But Santana holds all the cards here.  He's still got to waive his ntc to make the deal work so it's basically up to the Mets to bow down to his demands.  It's not really a question of "will they?" but "when?"  

The 72 hour time limit to get the deal done is bogus.  If nothing gets done then I'm sure the Mets will be given an extension.....unless the Yanks or Sox up the ante.

Basically, Jesse Jackson is calling out MLB for investigating white umpires who live in southern states to find out if they are part of the KKK. 

MLB keeps looking dumber and dumber.

Jackson's just upset that the black umpires aren't being treated with as much disrespect as the white umpires.

"I am surprised the professional league which helped change social attitudes in all sports leagues about segregation, by championing Jackie Robinson, would make such a destructive move."

He'll waive the ntc once the Mets show him the $$.  And I'm fairly certain that if he has to spend one more year in Minny and then hit the FA market next year where he will have the Yanks and Sox (who don't have to give anything up ) bidding for his services, he'd be quite fine with that.
