Way to overpay for someone who will never live up to the contract.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

PhillyPhreak54

I like them getting him.

Because when the Phils beat dat ass again for the NL East, it'll be great to hear the Mets fans crying again.

Geowhizzer

Rumor is that Santana's demanding at least 7 years at $20M+.

He's a great pitcher, but he's 29 and has logged a lot of innings.  Seven years would be a lot.

A definite gain for this season (barring injury, of course), but that contract could be an anchor later.

SD_Eagle5

Who cares about his contract when there's no cap in baseball? The Mets sure as hell don't care how much they have to spend. Unless he gets injured this significantly upgrades the Mets.

If the Santana deal goes through, the Mets will have 20 Latinos on their 40-man roster.  The Phillies have 5.  :-D

Time to close the borders.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

their own tv network and a new stadium on the horizon puts the mets almost on par with the sox and yankees....they have more money than they know what to do with and it would be next to impossible for them to have an anchor of a contract

So it'll be now 1000 times funnier when the Phillies win the NL East again with Adam Eaton starting every 5th day?

they now have to go after lohse or one of the other pitchers still available out there to at least in a very small way counter act this santana move and so they can send eaton into purgatory

I still don't understand why they've kept Eaton and let Lohse sit out there. Lohse > Eaton

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds
