Pretty sure what Omar calls an "inbox", most other males think of it as an "outbox".

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Today is the first day that illegal immigrants that be stealin' all your jobs can fill out the Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals forms.

In case anyone is wondering how this program will be funded:

QuoteA $465 application fee will fund the administrative costs of the program, including a biometric check and the issuance of a secure work-authorization document, he said.

It's a stroke of political genius to put the entire cost of the program on the applicants.  No one can complain that "they" are getting a free ride.  What's more, the steep price-point will act as a filter:  for that much money, it's not likely many people will apply on a lark, or if they might not qualify.

I'm torn on how I feel about this.  On one hand, it's farged up because the cost is obviously going to prevent a lot of them from being able to apply.  On the other hand, I can't say that I think the program should be funded by tax dollars either.  I'm completely in favor of simplifying the immigration process and I'm in favor of giving amnesty to anyone here illegally if they desire to be citizens.  Sign up or gtfo.  But I don't think it's fair for tax payers to foot the bill in order to make that happen.

Donations are being taken. How much of the donated money will actually go towards helping people pay the fee, I don't know. Maybe all, maybe none.

The family I know, with three kids who qualify, will be applying.  The cost is very hard on them, but the benefit of not facing deportation and being able to work legally is so great that they will find a way to scratch the money together.  It will happen only one kid at a time of course, but so be it.  They will likely have help from their Catholic parish too.
