Millions upon millions of dollars lost in stalled, incomplete and shoddy HUD housing projects.

Nationwide, nearly 700 projects awarded $400 million have been idling for years, a Washington Post investigation found. Some have languished for a decade or longer even as much of the country struggles with record-high foreclosures and a dramatic loss of affordable housing. 

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which oversees the nation's housing fund, has largely looked the other way: It does not track the pace of construction and often fails to spot defunct deals, instead trusting local agencies to police projects.

The result is a trail of failed developments in every corner of the country. Fields where apartment complexes were promised are empty and neglected. Houses that were supposed to be renovated are boarded up and crumbling, eyesores in decaying neighborhoods.

Watched 2 decent specials lastnight on the Death of Osama Bin Laden, one was on MSNBC the other on the Discovery channel. Thought the one on the Discovery channel was better because they took the viewer on a detailed tour of the compound and did a virtual re-enactment of the Seals taking people out. When the Seals got to the 3rd floor Bin Laden's sons attacked the Seals, Bin Laden peaked over the balcony to see what all the commotion was. He ran into a room with his wife and that's when the Seals broke through and put one in his chest and forehead.

The marital split of former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and broadcast journalist Maria Shriver took a shocking new twist Tuesday with a Los Angeles Times report that the couple separated after Shriver was informed that her husband and a longtime female member of their household staff had a child together more than a decade ago.

According to the Times, the 25-year marriage hit the rocks earlier this year, when Shriver moved out of the couple's Brentwood mansion after Schwarzenegger confirmed the paternity. The employee had retired in January after 20 years with the family, says the paper.

Stewart destroyed O'reilly lastnight. I'm sure the right wing machine thinks just the opposite but any rational person can see that Stewart made a good point and that O'Reilly was just talking in circles. I'm sure munson will be along shortly with the clip.
