A 2 year federal pay freeze isn't enough, these iceholes want 5 years? Guess that doesn't include their farging salaries. God I hate Republicans. Let's give the rich another 10% tax cut while we're at it.

I think my favorite part of all this is the Republicans (and even Obama nd the Dems now) keep saying "Everyone has to sacrifice".....but it seems the only people being asked to sacrifice are the ones without anything extra TO sacrifice, aka the middle class folks like teachers, soldiers, cops, etc. Meanwhile, "everyone" seems to be excluding the people at the top of the mountain who continue to get tax cuts or promises of tax cuts.

Somehow, some way, the GOP has been able to convince people that trickle down economics works despite its multiple failures.

But don't worry...in these tough times, "everyone" is going to have to make sacrifices.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Along with the little tax the rich pay, I think its insane how some big corporations not only don't pay any taxes, but get huge refunds.  :boom

Munson

There was a special on 20/20 a few weeks about where they were talking to corporate big shots....American corporations apaprently have somewhere between 1 and 1.2 trillion dollars stashed offshore in other countries, and refuse to bring it back in because of the 30% taxes. They even refuse to bring it back after Obama offered them a tax break on it (I think something like 25% instead).

It's time to close all the loopholes and stop allowing these crooks to take American money and ship it overseas (along with the jobs), just to avoid paying taxes.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Don Ho

Obama's pal here in Hawaii.  This dude was a year ahead of me at school and yes "Barry" was two years ahead of me at the same school.  I found out later that "Bobby" was the biggest dealer in school.   Guess he's off the A list now.

I think everyone knows this, but this is 100% our own fault. In our endless attempts to outsmart ourselves we have one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world and some of the biggest and easiest tax loopholes for corporations to exploit. This isn't some corporate conspiracy, these companies are following the god awful tax rules that Congress has put in place. It needs to be fixed, immediately. In fact if/when these loopholes get fixed the US can (and should) lower the corporate tax rate significantly (by 10% or more) at the same time and actually make WAY more money in tax revenue while simultaneously attracting more international businesses because of the lower more competitive rate.

This is another one of those things that everyone on every side of the discussion agrees upon but that lobbyists are going to have a conniption over. Common sense getting overruled by a million dollar lobbyist in a five thousand dollar suit.

Sgt PSN

Now that we all agree that corporations really run the country and that lobbyists suck moose knuckle, can we move on to something else?  Seems like every political discussion around here always comes back to this exact point.

phillymic2000

How about gas prices? :o freakin 3.89$ for regular.

Sgt PSN

$3.95 on base out here and over $4.00 off base.

I actually think that's a sign of collective intelligence, which is a rarity around here.

Yeah this is a shocker, abortion is the repubs key money raiser for the upcoming election. I have a feeling it will turn out like this. Bone head will either right before the shutdown, or a day or two after give in on the abortion (planned parenthood) issue, then stomp around telling the righties that, we tried, we really did, but we didn't want to hurt the country blah blah blah, see abortion still is one of our main goals, now give me money... What a bunch of asshats.

Now, the asshats on the other side should be getting beat on for not passing a budget when they had the majority, before the change in the house this past year. It would have flown thru, but they couldn't get their stupid ass act together in time.

I hate all these fargin idiots, they are all playing america as a bunch of idiots and getting rich off of it.

Anthony Weiner is kind of a huge dbag but if more dems had balls like he did, they'd actually get shtein done.
