Paterson continues to prove himself to be a damn good politician.  His pick for Hillary's Senate replacement is a deft move.  Not only does he figure out that Caroline Kennedy would be a trainwreck for more reasons than you can count, he resists the Cuomo franchise as well, and installs a talented, well-respected, hard-working, centrist darkhorse contender from the conservative upstate region, who trounced her Republican opponents in winning the seat is now vacating, who is endorsed by the NRA and--here's the cherry on top--who just happens to be a woman.

He's pissed of the more liberal fringe of the party, but that's a marginal hit.  Big win for Paterson.

no.  once again your simplistic, all or nothing, black or white, binary view of the world fails you.

reasons are:

she's popular upstate, which Paterson needs to win when he runs again
she's a woman
she's a centrist neither side can hit too hard (NRA and ACLU both like her)
she's a savvy politician
she works like a dog
she wins elections

all of these reasons play to Paterson's advantage, not to mention to the advantage of the national democratic party

Also pretty damn smart. Rather then resent the press and be flip with them, he's establishing a relationship with them and getting to know them. Very smart.

I don't know if he was out of line.  He's a reporter, that's the President in front of him, he tried to get something.  It wasn't very classy, and probably didn't win him any early points with the President, but whatever.  Obama handled it well, and it's great to see stuff like this.
