QuotePhilly mic your the guy I want to ask. I really just don't understand. If your against gay marriage but for civil unions hows that work? I mean I'm against the lifestyle for myself but why do we get to dictate lifestyle for others? If you allow civil unions marriage is just a word that us 'breeders' cling too. I'm not even talking about raising kids. These folks want to get married and take part in our society. Working and paying taxes. I don't see why that's negative. Maybe I'm just a heathen.

I'd rather not see either of them, my opinion is that I do not believe in this lifestyle, I think it is a choice to be gay/homosexual. I would not want the public school system teaching my kids that two men or women marrying each other is the same as marriage as it stands today. If this proposition did not pass then it would have to be taught as equal. I do understand that the school district is not responsible to teach my kids everything, but my kids are in school about 6hrs. a day and the school system has an influence on my kids that I am care about and watch. Look I am confident that soon gay marriage will get the green light in this country and when it happens so be it.

Really? You really think like this? Dude...
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

"I do not believe in this lifestyle."

Like it's the farging Easter Bunny. Some people are gay, whether you want to 'believe in it' or not.

Monkeys are more enlightened...

Geesh I believe there are gay people, I don't agree with the lifestyle would have been a better way to put it. And why is it such a big deal that I disagree with it? Apparently at this point there are more that feel this way then the for it or it would have been shot down get the farg over it.I'm not out protesting cause Obama won or calling people biggots cause they don't agree with me.

Lot's of people think like that. In fact it might be a majority. And there are really only two explanations:

1. "The bible says it's wrong." Fine, there's no arguing with people who make all of their decisions based on what they think the bible is telling them. Not my thing but whatever.
2. Hate/bigotry/ignorance/fear.

As I mentioned, the first position can be defended. The second absolutely can not.

Because it's like saying that you don't agree that some people have black hair or some people are tall. People that happen to be sexually attracted to their same sex are people. Like black people were people in pre-1960's South.

Your kids are going to become aware of homosexuality at some point. It's a part of society because it's a natural thing to feel for some people. Unless you're from Texas, then it'll always be suppressed/result in a fag drag.

Both Obama and Biden are against same sex marriages, and define marriage as 'a union between a man and a woman.'

But really phillymic, what would it hurt for your kids to read a book like, "Tommy Has Two Daddys"?

not agreeing with gay marriage is one thing, but this whole "gay is a choice" shtein is ridiculous

Reading a book about gay people is likely to turn your children gay. It's science.

That might be the best wiki link ever. But the Bonobo should not be allowed in American zoos. Think of the damage it would do to a kid to see to male chimps rubbing their scrotes on each others asses.

Society has decided to value marriages and the positive influence that it has on every aspect of life.  Gay "marriage" brings no value to society.  I know this enrages the libs on the board and you don't want to hear it.

Society has judged American Idol to be the most popular show on television.  Pointing to society for proof that a stance on an issue is either right or wrong or moral or immoral is absurd.

And let me point out another thing... if you asked most people in the 1950's whether "coloreds" deserved the same treatment as whites, the overwhelming answer would have been "no".  And not just in the South, either.

It will happen, my kids will ask me about it, and I will try my best to explain to them what it means. Just cause I do not agree with it does not mean I hate on homosexuals. Everyone has a right to their choices, at this time and point marriage is illegal in this country.
